Discussion:

I would have disagreed with this until the Paris attacks.

These people are neither the majority of Americans and, most important, the majority of voters.

I take it neither of you have lived or even travelled aboard.

ā€œUnderstand the populist points Trump makes and ride that wave,ā€ Baker writes.

This is the same party that likes to call their opponents Communists. Somewhere, Stalin is smiling.

The GOP is afraid that Trump has come to personify all the anger within their own party, as well as all the things the Silent Majority wants eliminated about our election process.

With a front runner so negative in so many aspects, Republicans no longer have any wedge issues to hide behind. Itā€™s all about Trump. Nothing else mattersā€¦even this early before the primaries start. The GOP will rise or fall on The Donaldā€™s shennigans.

The GOP doesnā€™t have any other alternative. Itā€™s a trap they set for themselves by recruiting and then inviting a small radical Far Right faction to lead their party in Congress. It makes Democrats a very attractive alternativeā€¦any Democrat including a Socialist Democrat. What starts at the top filters down the line eventually.

Republicans have effectively flipped the perception of conservatives with that of liberals. They are now the ones being judged negatively by Mainstream America. Itā€™s a turning point. Trump could very well make it their Waterloo.

I hope he stays to the inevitable end. Iā€™d like to see him firedā€¦overwhelmingly by the American people and the GOP given a pink slip by history.

It only makes sense for Baker to say this. His is the party that decided to lower the middle class standard of living in America to raise it for Communist Chinese workers. The GOP arenā€™t just communist sympathizers. They are their heroes.

Iā€™m not too sure one would say that itā€™s populist to say ā€œAmericans make too much money.ā€ Trump is what his supporters hate the most. But we can wait to point that out to everyone already angry with the GOP after he has their nomination.

Then explain his ever increasing poll numbers.

And yes, I have travelled abroad: Jamaica, Bahamas, Germany, Denmark and Hungary. It always felt a little darker while I was there. I know there are benefits to their culture, but there are also detriments. And everyone I worked with there, pretty much, had the goal of coming to the States and enjoyed their visits when they were here.

I still believe it is possible he could be elected, if the sentient voters donā€™t show up. Remember that we got W twice, even if the first time was a gimmee.

I frankly would like CNN to call his bluff on the ransom and not pay it.

Then letā€™s see him either justify his presence after the empty threat, or have a GOP debate without the narcissist in the room. That could honestly be more interesting.

We are seeing, as someone said earlier, the party reaping what it has sown. They have been banging the drum for fear and hatred for so long that it is all they have now.

My goodness, this is scary.

Heā€™s asking this of Republicans who ponder women shutting down that whole pregnancy thing after being raped, and who consider snowballs in Washington to be definitive proof against global warming.

But go ahead. ā€œUnderstandā€.

When I was in Basic Training there was an expression the Drill Sergeants used to get us to move FAST called ā€œCombat Speedā€ ā€™

Thatā€™s because combat is not like in the movies. It is nothing but unadulterated FEAR. For soldiers IN combat normal emotions go out the window.

The sanest thing that any American can think in the next 11 months is that he/she is going to have to resolve to get to the polls and vote against every Republican running for any office like his/her life depended on it.

Because it DOES.

And fear is not a bad emotion for Democrats to entertain right now.

Sure the Germans and Austrians enjoy their visits, but none would trade the (payed for through taxes!) top-rate health insurance and health care for the crappy deal in good ole usa.

Not to mention it, but I will anyway - the lack of gun-totinā€™ idiots roaming the streets.

This is AWESOME! Trumpmentum! GOP candidates must follow the Trumptastic septic tank wave to Trumpageddon! Donald Trump is NOT a Fascist ā€¦ although he plays one on TV.

Itā€™s my opinion that Tronald is the ultimate Agent Provocateur sent to make the tumor that is the modern GOP feed off itself. Not sure if itā€™s a conscious effort or pure self delusion on his part but itā€™s the final result that matters. If he is authentic and he wins the ultimate prize then so be it ā€¦ nothing in this country will change till we hit rock bottom.
