You can now shoot someone and never be charged, but if you leave an unloaded gun in the Capitol…watch him wind up in jail for a few years.

but… but… I have been told repeatedly by ammosexuals that a gun is just a tool, like a hammer or a screwdriver. Why would any sane person call the bomb squad because someone left a tool laying around?

If he hadn’t of wrapped it, there’d be no problem.

"The state of Utah has an open carry policy that includes the capitol, unfortunately,” Trooper Lawrence Hopper told The Post. “I say unfortunately because it just causes dangerous situations.”

So, Trooper Hopper is a Communist traitor, hoping to help Obama fill internment camps with disarmed citizens.

“Open carrying we totally get. It’s the open leaving that confounds us 'cause today in Utah some idiot walked away from the Capitol unarmed”!

He wrapped it because it’s a gift. Gun violence is the gift that keeps giving…and giving…and giving…

“…police said they were still evaluating whether any laws were broken.” Reckless abandonment of an innocent weapon?

I am still waiting for somebody smart on the topic of gun safety to organize open carry demonstrations by orthodox Muslims and Black Lives Matter activists at red state capitols and in nice white suburbs. Watch how quickly the NRA changes its tune on gun safety laws and open carry when that starts happening.

A random act of kindness?
One man’s attempt to stop the madness?
Give peace a chance?
HELP?

"…Whether he’s arrested or not is up to the investigators.”

I appreciate the protest and the attention grabbing method, but if the weapon is functional, I’m not too keen on leaving one just lying around. Especially in a building mostly filled with crazy people.

OK, the last part was snark, but still …

So let me get this straight - it’s legal to “open carry” a weapon, unless you are carrying it for the purpose of protesting the “open carry” law, in which case it becomes illegal to “open carry”. OK, got it.

The thing is, nobody wants to because they’re afraid of getting killed. It’s basically white privilege involving gun rights. It’s a double standard that the NRA and the militia types are wholly aware of and use to their advantage.

A minority, carrying with a couple of white guys? Sure, why not. He must be one of the “good ones”.

A minority, carrying alone? Ok, now whitey’s a bit nervous. Keep an eye on 'em would ya?

Two or more minorities carrying? TERRORISTS, 12-0-CLOCK! MAN THE TURRETS WE GOT OURSELVES A FULL BLOWN RACE WAR!

I see you’ve been reading WND.

I think his protest is brilliant – the First Amendment dressed in Second Amendment’s clothing.

It is possible he could be charged with a crime, but that might require making some claims that sound much like those made by people who argue that more guns does not mean more safety: an unloaded weapon is a danger to those around it; or, it is a crime to leave a gun where it could be picked up by someone not authorized to possess a firearm.

WOW!! All of a sudden like…guns make these folks real uncomfortable! How come they want guns everywhere possible…except where they work? FREEDUMB!

“It has to be open and seen by all, of course,” he added. “With this situation, this is really not considered open carry… Whether he’s arrested or not is up to the investigators.”

Is it any wonder the rest of the world sees us as ridiculous and absurd on this issue?
