Discussion for article #241690
It will be a lot more impressive if it was more than just the Psychology department.
IF There waS CAMPUS carry, GOOD GUYS with the GUNS could’ve TAKen OUT Charles WHITMAN1!11!1!one!!1!!!
How many hours or minutes until the first gun-nut blogger posts their home addresses?
Well, if you read this letter, you can see that the signatories are pretty specifically drawing from their expertise and responsibilities as members of the Dept. of Psychology as grounds for their opposition to campus carry.
Trust me, there is much more to come.
Countdown until the state of Texas drops Psychology as a major at U of T…
"Campus carry is set to be implemented on Aug. 1. " 10 months from now?
Yes.
So a bunch of pointy-headed elites that probably read books and wear eyeglasses object to something. Sounds like perfect justification for the Texas legislature to assure it becomes entrenched law. What’s next, they assert Jesus didn’t ride a dinosaur to home school every day?!
How long of a trip is it to home school? Like, roll out of bed, dude.
In a way this might be especially impressive in its own right… that basically an entire department, not to mention one most concerned with human behavior, is united in its strong opposition to this asinine decision. We’ll see if others follow suit, which would also impress. Not that any of it will accomplish anything.
This is most of the faculty of the the department of psychology in the school of natural sciences.
I’ll bet there are other letters coming from other groups of faculty.
The Department of Senseless Violence and Mayhem supports the measure. (U. Texas probably has one, albeit with a more acceptable moniker)
Over 600 UT faculty members have already signed the Gun Free UT statement opposing guns in university classrooms. This letter was just from the Psychology Department, but many faculty from other departments have already expressed the same views, and there are more to come.
You are really anti-science, aren’t you?
Jesus rode a mastodon. And it wasn’t “home school”. He was in a “group home”.
I’m a UT grad. I was surprised when the headline said only 50 people signed it. I will bet big money that was a departmental action. The letter was based on the science they teach and research. I would bet all my money that there are many, many profs in all departments who are opposed to campus carry. The University as a whole opposed it before it became law. As did many campuses in Texas.
BS. This is hardly the only department opposed.
It is the amount of bigotry and stupidity in comments that made me decides to no longer pay for this site to exist. Some of you are EXACTLY like the idiots in the tea party.
It ain’t necessarily so. The university is planning how to implement the new law on its campus. Widespread protests from the faculty may lead to many areas being off-limits to guns, such as classrooms.
Your reading skills are Texas-level poor. You should sue the state education dept, if there is one.
