That’s not a very nice thing to say about actual douchebags.
I’m not trying to make light of the situation, I understand the terribly high stakes, and I’m not endorsing this in any way. I fought myself against arriving at this conclusion for months. All those disclaimers having been made:
The Trump 2016 campaign may be the greatest work of performance art humanity has ever witnessed.
Hemorrhoid mouth.
It doesn’t matter if his response was a golf clap or a standing Bravo, or something in between… Cheney got what he and PNAC wanted that day. Humanity was shoved closer to extinction, stocks in Cheney’s blind haha trust soared, and he lived happily ever after.
What a douchebag! These people don’t understand whatever they put out on the Internet stays there. Impossible to retrieve. But I am sure that typical Republican fashion, he’ll try to blame and bully the media over this-- and Megyn, Carly, Jeb and Carson in the process.
This guy is a pig! Why in the world do we have to be subjected to this constant barrage of his vomit! Please stop reporting on him. He is just a pig. And presidential elections are bad enough without having to be subjected to “the Donald” !
I’m curious as to how such a yoooooooge ego fit into such a small man.
So calling Cheney a depraved moron is …defending him? Funny.
You sent a link to the entire 9/11 Comm Report. What page has the part about Liz Cheney hanging up repeatedly on Bush because she wanted to watch CNN?
LightingRod, you are an ignorant, bigoted fool. Other than that you are stupid.
So he no longer wishes himself a good 9/11?
Yes. You should try reading it sometime. Its from the ONLY Congressional hearing on the terrorist attacks on that day…the hearings that Bush and Cheney fought tooth and nail from even taking place, refused to testify under oath for, refused to be questioned alone and refused for any tapes or even hand written notes to be taken off their testimony.
Compare and contrast to the currently 8th congressional committee looking in Benghazi that you and your ilk so gleefully sing about, because you need to get to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi. Yet a report on actual attacks on American soil that killed over 3,000 people? Naa, you can’t be bothered to read that.
Not Liz, Lynne. Lynne is his wife, Liz is one of his daughters.
Army Major Mike Fenzel complains to him, “I can’t hear the crisis conference because Mrs. Cheney [Lynne Cheney, the wife of the vice president] keeps turning down the volume on you so she can hear CNN.”
It’s out there McGruff if you know how to use the Google. Here’s an excerpt from one of many articles…
But the the far more political group in the East Wing’s PEOC seems to have had little use for Clarke’s gathering of experts. In his book Against All Enemies, Clarke reports that someone in the PEOC later told him that attempts to listen in on the West Wing videoconference on speakerphone were impeded “because Mrs. Cheney keeps turning down the volume on you so she can hear CNN . . . and the Vice President keeps hanging up the open line to you.”
I check TPM a few times a day. Sometimes, when my projects are light, I get to dig in and have some good conversations here. I generally like TPM and I really like the message boards here.
But here is what I’ve noticed the past few weeks, and especially these days: The front page looks no different than a Right Wing blog. Sure the tone is different. It is snarky and revels in the stupidity that is the modern GOP. But every time I click on to the TPM these days all I see is Trump, McConnell, a Fox News talking head or some other GOP fucknuckle. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Sanders post here. Are there any other Dems doing anything worth reading about? Is Hillary still running for president or is she merely apologizing for her emails? I dunno?
So, I gotta say, I’m pretty fucking tired of talking about Trump. I’m kind of sick of chuckling over the stupid shit GOoPers do and say. Is it just me?
You PRIME members, is there different/better content on the other side of the paywall? I’ve been threatening to buy a membership, but I can’t imagine paying money to read even more Trump stories or long-from pieces on how stupid Scott Walker is. For example, that piece Josh put up last weekend on his lil wooden boat was amazing. So refreshing and well written. Is there more of that on the other side?
Just wondering.
I guess we’re still in silly season…
From reports I’ve read it appears that Mrs Cheney interfered with others ability to listen in on a conference being held in the West Wing and maybe the Dick made some hang-ups. From reading four different reports just now it’s hard to discern what actually happened.
‘Everybody’ in PEOC Frustrated by TV Problem - Rice will recall that the problem with the televisions is “kind of frustrating to everybody.” [WHITE HOUSE, 11/1/2001] One unnamed official will recall that Cheney, who is in the PEOC for much of the day, is “cranked up” about the problem and repeatedly demands that it be fixed. [HAYES, 2007, PP. 342] Mary Matalin, a counselor to Cheney, will recall, “You can have sound on one or the other [i.e. the TV broadcasts or the video teleconference], and [Cheney] found that technically imperfect.” [CNN, 9/11/2002; CNN, 9/14/2002] According to Newsweek, this is the only thing that causes Cheney’s composure to break and leads to him showing any irritation while he is in the PEOC. [NEWSWEEK, 12/30/2001]
Accounts Conflict over Whether Problem Is Fixed - It is unclear whether this technical problem with the televisions gets fixed. According to Perez, PEOC personnel are able to fix it. “It took them a little while, but they did get it together. They got it right,” she will say. [WHITE HOUSE, 11/1/2001] But according to Hayes, the problem remains unfixed. [HAYES, 2007, PP. 342] Clarke will later give a different account of the problem with getting audio from television broadcasts and the video conference simultaneously. He will write that when he goes down to the PEOC sometime around midday (see (Shortly Before 12:30 p.m.) September 11, 2001), Army Major Mike Fenzel complains to him, “I can’t hear the crisis conference because Mrs. Cheney [Lynne Cheney, the wife of the vice president] keeps turning down the volume on you so she can hear CNN.” [CLARKE, 2004, PP. 18]

Regardless, don’t give McGruff the crime dawg the opportunity, any opportunity at all, to take you sideways over minutiae. It gives him opportunity to derail a conversation, which is how he gets his little thrills.
On another thread, I mentioned a scary poll showing insane Carson and nullity Bush both leading Hillary head to head (in a CNN poll).
Stop. I’m prone to worrying.
Yes there is better/different content. Most of the discussions there are initiated by TPMers and concern issues of the day. Lots of intelligent and respectful discourse.
And no such things as Puppies or MrComments.
So am I.
But I know about data presentation. I mentioned it because people here (including you) know about it also.
Strategically, yes, 9/11 was the “new Pearl Harbor” that they had wrote would probably be necessary for them to achieve their unpopular policy goals. As cynical and misguided as these people may have been, I still flinched at the word “delighted”…it felt like I was reading one of those nasty blogs that is so hyper-partisan as to be almost completely irrational…
