Trump is the perfect Republican candidate. He appeals to Tea Party anger which is based on right wing media hysteria. Birthers ignore Obama’s birth certificate just as GOP xenophobes ignore the economic benefits of undocumented aliens who provide cheap labor and pay Social Security taxes despite having little chance to collect SS.

I was seriously tired of reading and hearing about Trump until I realized that his candidacy is pointing a yuuge spotlight at those assholes. Sometimes I can be a little slow on the uptake.

Daron Acemoglu has written about the connection between piracy and efficient organizations. Now, we all like pirates in the Robert Louis Stevenson sense, but not so much when we have to fork over our stuff or spouse or children. Indeed, it’s a fun mental exercise. But the reality, of course, is that piracy, which includes resource piracy (e.g. Californian grower and fracker groundwater theft in the Central Valley) or institutional looting (e.g. Rick Scott’s Hospital Corporation of America, or Goldman Sachs and the US Treasury), as Acemoglu points out, is really, really inefficient. In an America that has given away most of the electromagnetic spectrum to scoundrels, has a congress that fights for “royalty relief” for mineral extractors, and provides public blessings to private scams from lotto to charter school chains, Preibus wants to keep the open discussions of looting the public treasury out of our public discourse, while Trump, perhaps because he’s not really a very big billionaire, gets a kick out of saying aloud things that should only be dog-whistled to the base. So in a way Trump would like a little of that pirate chic, while Priebus has to pretend the GOP does not spend a lot of time delivering favors for the pirate class. We’ve moved on from the do-it-yourselfers like Bernie Madoff, the Enron gang, Bernard Ebbers, etc. to more low-profile piracy formats, so the less ruffling of feathers and name-calling, the better. It’s much better just to let the dream of middle-class existence bleed to death slowly.
Can’t blame Priebus really — The Trump is a ticking bomb —

The mirror that Trump holds up to our country reflects what a yoooge embarrassment we as a nation have become. For those of us who recoil in disgust at this reflection, we had better take it seriously and do whatever we can to make it better. How, I don’t know….but we had better think of something.
I’m volunteering for our local Dem candidates and attempting calm, reasonable discussions with friends on the Rep side, the latter easier with some and quite challenging with others but I’m trying. I just don’t know what else to do……any ideas?

Trump promised a “big surprise” for the August convention in Tampa, fueling plenty of media speculation and more questions for Priebus.
I’m not sure about the purpose of this article but I am sure that everyone knows that Trump didn’t become a world class jerk just in the last few months.
Trump has been all over the map with his mouth and in his declarations. He always wants to run for some third Party because no one else wants him. He is forcing himself down the Republicans throats right this second and that couldn’t be more apropos for one thing and it forces them to act like they like him and it doesn’t matter, which is total horseshit for another.
Reinse has just about no authority as it is and Donald Trump is yooooge by comparison. A person like Priebus could be replaced with one of the imaginary Trump executives in a Birther minute.
Trump has stolen the Republican brand, incorporated it into the Trump conglomerate and is milking it dry.
This is a business move by Trump and as deceitful and sleazy as the GOP establishment is, they aren’t better at working deals than Trump is.
This is a hostile takeover, have no doubts.
