Good news. Wondering why though, Ohio was a Union state.

I find it a bit ironic, all these years later, that it’s the losing side that can’t stop reminiscing about the war.

The reason it matters in Ohio would be clear if you ever find yourself riding on the interstate through rural Ohio. They’re all over. At and least one barn whose entire side is a damned traitor flag.

If you are wondering how a state proud of its Underground Railroad past has so many treasonous flags:

Many southerners came for the jobs during and after the Great Depression.

Yes, I do live in Ohio … I do see them … was just thinking out loud there.

Thank you to all of the state fairs that are banning Confederate flag memorabilia.

Deep-fried candy bars and the Confederate Battle Flag? When I think about it for a moment, I can see the profound, ineluctable logic in that juxtaposition.

Amateurs. Down here we have deep-fried butter.

Deep fried Oreos are pretty damn good.

The Indiana State Fair will pass out free Confederate flags at all entry gates. For $5.00 more you can get a miniature lynching tree or an Al Jolson photograph.

I know about the blackface, but I think Jolson was a civil rights advocate in his day. I’ll have to look into it more. But yeah, bump for Talibandiana.

And of course by virtue of that migration we have the evolution of the blues, from the country blues of the delta all the way to the electric city blues of Chicago.

Can’t help but wonder why a Union state like Ohio with thousands of graves of civil war heroes in every cemetery in every county, would have these items for sale in the first place…

It really is that simple.

I see the confederate flag over here in PA on pickup trucks and at county fairs too. I’m interested to see if the Butler Farm Show will be selling them. That area’s represented by Daryl Metcalfe, the state rep who either (I forget which) declared a recent year the Year of the Bible, or else wanted to make the Bible the state book. You see booths against abortion and for the creation museum at the farm show too.

So much for “heritage, history, culture and respect”…

OHIO?!?!

Wasn’t that state part of the union?

What the hell? Why in the world would the Ohio state fair be selling the opposing and losing side’s hate crap?

Because it’s loaded with racist rednecks. Go to Idaho. People wallpaper their trailers with the damned Rebel flag. They weren’t even a state during the Civil War. Civil War battle lines and allegiances have little to do these days with a current person’s affinity for the good old days when you could string up a black person and get away with it. Remnants of Southern hate have migrated to all corners of the country.
