It’s a legitimate question whether Trump believes the nonsense he spouts. My guess is, not at first, but now he may buy at least some of his own hot air.

With regard to the Latino vote, I believe that there is a cellar below which their voting Repubican would not sink.
There are a number of reasons for this…the mentality of Ted Cruz betrays several of them.
Moreover, the increase in Latino voter registration has to be placed in the context of differentiating between people who register and people who actually show up at the polls.
Further, the charging up of the Repubican Base on the immigration issue is being studied by the other Republican candidates, even as they diffidently demur that “Trumps utterances are ill-advised”. Maybe the uptick in Base arousal is worth all the trouble.
If Trump IS a plant, all of these considerations (and quite a few more) are going to have to be taken into account, especially since all Republicans should be able to (with the help of the MSM) successfully pivot to the center and snag some sleepy Independents.
