Discussion:

they thought nothing of fouling up the lives of so many people

That’s not so. They DEPENDED on this fouling up those lives, to make the ploy work.

This might be coming as I believe these items and several other instances of corruption and misappropriating Sandy funds are also being investigated.

He has no credibility as a presidential candidate. Those dreams are long gone now, and not entirely because of Bridgegate, though it certainly hasn’t helped matters for him.

Christie was always going to have a hard time reaching the nomination because he is literally the poster child of what the base calls a squish. New Jersey republican that hugged Obama…publicly. That is a very tough hill to climb, but now, given how the field is shaping up, he could have at best hoped to split the establishment vote with Walker and Bush. That’s a particular dangerous approach with Cruz looming out there on the TP right. Now, because of Bridgegate, Christie is miles behind in the fund raising and campaign staffer talent race, and given how much more money is going to be required this cycle, even compared to last cycle, that’s not a gap he can close.

Finally, if some bizarre set of circumstances happened and he did manage to wrangle out a nomination, his appeal as a centrist is dead and gone. Bridgegate hurts him hardest in a general election, where the sheer pettiness of it, which reinforces all his negatives, is quite literally a “bridge too far” for Dems and Indys. Hillary would positively mop the floor with the damaged Christie that would be.

And all of that is not even getting into the very real problems any Christie national campaign had residing at its core…he is short, fat and prone to going off the handle. All of those things get writ large on a presidential campaign, and most likely, will cause fatal gaffes.

So in summary there is no Christie presidential campaign, except possibly in some delusional corner of his fevered brain…and I doubt one even exists in those dark corners.

Two or three meatball sandwiches and all of this will be forgotten.

Looks as if DaveWildstein has found a weight loss program that works…
Too bad CorpulentChristie will be deprived of the benefits of anticipating prison time.

With 60% of the vote, Chris knew he was going to win…WTF. What a glutton. In Chris’s case, LOOKS AREN’T DECEIVING. Children sat for HOURS on buses, MAN if I were one of the parents of these poor kids, that FAT SOB would pay…I’D SURE HIS FAT ASS. EMT’s had to foot-it to people in NEED. And we know one who died. I feel so OUTRAGED…

Had they been smart enough to call the whole thing off after the first day, they probably would have gotten away with it.

Simply say something like “We tried this study, it obviously failed, oops, sorry, we’ll try something else later.” and it’s a one day story.

But it was just too much fun watching the whole mess, like arsonists hanging around to watch the fire.

Ha! The worms are turning!

Kelly vs. Baroni (the biggest asshole next to Christie), vs. Wildstein!

Wildstein seems to have already showed all of his cards, so the others will trip themselves up by concocting any more lies, now that the feds seem to know everything. I think Samson is the real big fish about to fry. I can’t wait.

Does seem like Wildstein really is mocking Christie with his Abramoff fit shape and beard routine

That having been said - kudos to Wildstein looks like he’s channeled his time and energy in a very positive way. Guy looks so much healthier and happier than he did in photos working under Christie there

I can see Alcatraz from my house. Seriously. It’s 1.5 miles from San Francisco in the Bay.

Wildstein seems to have been the leak source for the “time for some traffic problems” email there. Would imagine he’s got a whole lot more email and audio recordings. It may not be evidence you can introduce in court - but it will be more than enough to play in a loop on cable news (if it exists)

Makes me wonder if this is what they got caught doing - what did they do that they didn’t get caught doing?

While the cones could have been crushed - there was ample port authority police on the bridge “working the lines” as it were. As evidenced by pa cops telling the people to blame the mayor of Fort Lee for the problem

Although your point is well made - had someone wanted to do something nefarious while traffic was blocked the panic would have been catastrophic

Yeah and that boat tour is likely where the joke, the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. I took that tour and was completely underdressed and unprepared. They should have loaner sweaters on hand : )

Alcatraz (what does that mean?) or the rock, is sort of a weird little island in an odd place.

Christie is in no shape to be playing sneaky, literally, and probably never was.

Hurricane Sandy didn’t slow down traffic this much.

Christie has been all around town denying his involvement, and when Christie is all around town, he is literally all around town.

Christie’s bloated government had a giant red flag preceding it.

Mr. Christy, the bridge that you closed doesn’t even span denial (the Nile)

Christie 2016 is more of a guess of what his pants size will be in a few years.

The first time I came to San Francisco from my home in NY was in the summer and I too was unprepared for the cold. Nevertheless, the weather was not a deterrent, and so I stayed happily here. But you learn you have to layer your clothing. Alcatraz was also home to Whitey Bulger

CC could never have imagined his name would be a punchline

Hot. Buttered. Toast.

I never thought Christie had any real chance of getting the nomination of today’s Republican Party anyhow. Why? Because the nutty, paranoid fear that “Sharia law” is actually in danger of being implemented in the U.S. is an article of faith among the GOP base, and here’s Christie’s response to those fears:

I would never have considered voting for Christie in a million years, because on virtually all matters of public policy he’s a typical Republican creep. In this one instance, though, his full-throated, unapologetic, and entirely justified contempt for the whole Sharia Law horseshit gets my applause. It’s an interesting comment on humanity in general that somebody can be so correct on something like this Sharia Law nonsense yet be so completely wrong on everything else.

He put a (gasp!) Muslim on the state supreme court.

Kiss of death for the wingnut nomination.
