Discussion for article #234755
Before today, the conventional wisdom was that Reid was highly vulnerable and presented the GOP a key pickup opportunity. Now, suddenly, the CW is that Reid was all-but-safe, and his departure is a Dem disaster that gives the GOP a key pickup opportunity. You’d almost think political reporters interpret everything for maximum horserace drama.
Meanwhile, the RNC put out a jeering statement gloating that Reid is fleeing the Democrats’ total destruction in 2016 as the party disintegrates forever and is dragged down by “a scandal-plagued front-runner.” I don’t think any comment is really needed on that… but it will be taken very seriously by said political reporters.
Thank you Senator Reid, you have been a stalwart presence through it all.
This could easily become the most contentious and expensive Senate race in the country.
Political reporting on Nevada is horrific.
The Gov. has made it clear that he’s setting his sights on the WH using the Senator’s office as his path and why not? The thing that kinda scares me is that Sandoval can go places where Rubio thinks he can go. The only thing I think Dems have going for them in a Presidential election is Sandoval’s political party has made any sort of overtures to Latinos toxic. We “might” be able to use this as a cudgel but ONLY if we have a strong Presidential candidate.
No Nevada politician will ever be elected President of the United States.
You can delete “on Nevada” from your comment and you’ll still be depressingly accurate.
