Discussion for article #234022

Did anyone else read this headline and description and think that Wilmore, you know, actually got pulled over by cops while doing an on-location bit about Ferguson?

They should have added “You Won’t Believe What Happens In The Seventh Minute!”

I’ve been watching Wilmore this week. He is really funny. Candidate to replace John Stewart?

Yeah I was expecting an actual street scene but the bit was good.

Christ, I hope not. What he’s doing, in the format he’s doing it, is so good, why change it? The Nightly Show is the best thing on TV, especially the panel discussion. So, again, why change that?

Unfortunately, it will likely get darker (no pun intended) before the light shines through.
The cops aren’t just going to give up their dominion over the people that they rule, er-I mean serve and go back to being the servants and peacekeepers as per their purpose. That’s no fun and they wouldn’t get to play with the lethal toys and of course, living witnesses aren’t so likely to tell the same story as the cops so the shoot to kill first attitude isn’t just going to wash away.

There needs to be a mass firing and overhaul of the police nationwide, not just a few tossed out that should obviously never have been allowed in the first place.

I once got pulled over in Chicago, in January, on “suspicion of a forged license plate”. After they ran their record check on me, they said they took a second look at my plates, and decided they were just covered with snow. In defense of the cops who stopped me, I live a four-hour drive from Chicago. But the weather was so bad that weekend it took me seven hours.

The reason I bring this up is that the customary rationale for justifying this kind of stop where I come from is to take a flashlight to a tail light on the way to your car. I’ll take forged plates any day.

I saw this skit on Larry Wilmore’s show the other night and it was funny and demonstrated very well.

I love you Larry!
