Discussion:

Wait. Her thesis is that the amount of money you get from your employer is in direct proportion to the value in which you are held in your personal relationships? What the actual f#$k is she talking about? So people who work at Wal-Mart, for example, whose employer refuses to negotiate on pay and pays notoriously low hourly rates, are leading loveless, empty, valueless lives? Whereas Meeka, who is a millionaire, is living a life full of meaning, love and value? Wut? Sounds like old-timey Calvinism to me.

Also: Who actually watches this show? Shut-ins? People on the alzheimers ward in nursing homes who can’t work the remote? Who has 3 hours in the middle of the day to devote to this twaddle?

Doesn’t that photo just scream “I am a woman of intellectual substance who knows her value”? I may just vomit.

This is sad, and fully representative of what is happening in journalism. Oh, should I say post–journalism. This piece is just one long PR interview for a Mika Brzezinski “tour” that is supposedly abut empowering women.

However, it is more and more inane celebrity drivel masking itself as journalism in a website publication, TPM, that originally was about thoughtful journalism. Even “The Slice” component seems to be more about “cultural reporting” that hinges more on theoretical musings based on clickbait.

TPM is marching in a different direction, and has decided that covering celebrity joournalists is the wave of the future.

TPM, 200–2014. RIP.

Wally World employees suffer endless disrespect for the wrongs of their employer. Seeking medical care at the ER, hoping the indigent fund will help out with the bill; getting grilled by SNAP administrators, and then having to buy Chinese made food products from Walmart*; wearing the schmuck vest at work that might as well say “I am an employee of this dingy dump, Kick Me!”; and finally now getting a haha raise to less than poverty wages. All this from The Employer From Hell that got huge tax breaks for destroying the local employment complex and forcing those employees to accept the crumbs of poverty scattered by the Walton multibillionaires.

I didn’t. Knew if I read it my BP would be up all day and I’d be stuck in my thoughts with all the wrongs and hypocrisies you rail about. Unfortunately not everyone sees Mika as the pathetic bimbo she really is. Some even enjoy her little tussles with her Huff Post HOME interior decorator Larry Burns, who said Brzezinski is “the perfect client” because she let him take his vision and run with it.

Why can’t you be just like Larry? Subservience is the best path here.

Both the questions and the answers seem awfully vapid. Mika just seems like yet another empty example of nepotism.

I confess that I never thought that TPM would go with this junk. Two self-promoters who used the Obama White House to launch themselves from the White House garden. Morning Joe has become a joke. I guess nothing else of importance is happening.

There is nothing assertive about Mika. She is just an on-air submissive Joe pushes around to prove he is a dominant man. The show needs a woman willing to stand up to bully boy Joe and bring some real tension. There needs to be a relationship of equals. You don’t get that vibe from Mika. She seems to enjoy just taking crap from her on air man. She is more like a battered wife than an assertive star.

I agree. That was a total waste of time. I am so over her and Joe. Mika is married since 1993 but the article only mentions her raising her two teenage daughter. Guess hubby doesn’t count to the writer of the piece.

Remember when Joe mocked blogs and their PJ-wearing, Mom’s basement authors as a big nothing? Wonder if he feels extra foolish trying to pimp his loser show on a…blog?

This was a total waste of space. I want to know why Joe Scar and Mika as well as the Faux News crowd is so popular here at TPM.

These are not serious people. They are too damn full of themselves for their own good. And WHY does Joe get to be “on the line” in HER interview? Jackass.

MSNBC needs new management. Mika is insipid and Scarborough is a blowhard, three hours of these two is three hours too much.

And they get three hours to do it in. A real journalist even a twosome would find that luxurious.

I don’t watch because it’s way too early for one thing so all I know is what I read here. She’s always struck me as a trophy pundit, in the style of people like Sawyer and Brown, but she has a last name which might have taken her this far. There was a moment in 2011 when the old man got on Joe’s case on air because he was so mistaken in his understanding of an international issue. I didn’t see it, but I loved reading about it afterwards

"You know, you have such a stunningly superficial knowledge of what went on that it’s almost embarrassing to listen to you

Headline:

Why MSNBC Is Showing More Mika and Less Scarborough Now

So we refer to the female co-host by her first name, and the male co-host by his last name?

First paragraph:

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski doesn't go on frequent weekend jaunts to the south of France, contrary to what her "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough would have you believe.

I read the entire (pretty vapid) piece, and there’s actually very little in it about why MSNBC is showing more Mika than Joe. And the little segment that does address her panel quotes Mika as saying if they want to move in a different direction, they will. So it’s not clear that MSNBC is, in fact, showing more Mika, and if Mika even thinks that’s going to continue.

What gives with this interview?
