It looked like she was spraying the guy taking a video of her, but went wide-angle to clear the entire area. Hagopian was clearly taken by surprise, hit mostly from behind after he had already walked past her.

She felt “Threatened” and 'Feared for her life" because he was BLACK and had his left hand IN HIS POCKET and she felt he was “reaching for a weapon”.
That will be enough to get her off.

What the fuck was going on here generally? They act like they’re the fucking 101st Airborne digging in at Bastogne or the British forting up at Roarke’s Drift, expecting an assault at any moment.

Notice none of the other cops looking at her as she shrieks and waves around that can and like a panic stricken idiot, much less bat an eye after she fires it. It’s almost as if someone in authority told them “hold this street at all costs! Don’t let anyone get within five feet of you and use all necessary force to defend it! The line must be drawn heah! Heah and no further!”

Clearly he was a planning a sneak attack on the group of officers and this pepper spraying officer saved the day. I mean who walks near a group of officers with a cellphone to their ear if not a terrorist calling into a suicide bomber?

Someone will have to fill this Cop in on a few things. She does not have a right to regulate lawful activity to her liking nor does she have the right to injure citizens because she is angry. Another person unsuited for a badge with one. Wonder what it will be tomorrow?

How much more proof do we need that cops in this country default to violence far far to quickly in most interactions with citizens.

Also love how none of the other officers seemed to care one bit at all that she was just spraying people walking by. Something something few bad apples?

Or…this shit has been going on all along, and we just have more video cameras and can put it on YouTube for everyone to see. And many of the people who have claimed to have been unjustly attacked by cops were telling the truth, and the cops were lying. It’s amazing how many things don’t happen unless there’s video.

You know…I moved to the Seattle area in part due to generally left-leaning attitudes. HOWEVER…I’ve got to admit the police force in Seattle would apparently feel right at home in my native state…Texas. There was another story on the local news today about an elderly black man who was standing on a street corner using a gold club as a cane. A Seattle cop’s dash board cam shows that she pulled over…and jumped out accusing him swinging it like a club and arrested him. Yeah, that was my take too, it looks like Hagopian was just part of a crowd the officer suddenly needed to get out of her immediate area. A command first, followed by three seconds would have helped first, instead of just indiscriminately spraying everyone in the immediate vicinity.

And she should have charges brought against her, and all those, in her group, who supported her actions, as if the exact opposite occurred. Assault, battery, gang related…

What’s really funny about the video is seeing them using their bikes as a security barrier. Like, who needs riot gear when you’ve got a bicycle to protect you? And if all else fails, they can always flee at a moderate speed.

I wonder if that’s part of the problem: They know that they look like complete dorks with their bikes and bicycle helmets and have to overcompensate to remain tough. I felt that way when I visited Mexico once and saw cops driving in VW Beetles. Like…sorry guys, but I do not respect your authority when you’re sitting in a hippy car. Same goes for bike cops. Even cops on foot are tougher than bicycle cops, while horse cops are the coolest.

Fucking nuts! I might add, sounding completely sexist, that she’s far too small even for a police woman.

I hope the new chief, also a woman, chooses to begin making examples of rotten apples putting her on the list. At the very least, suspension without pay, retraining and community service.

We do not have an understaffed police force. Improperly trained, yes. But we don’t lack for officers.

This happened over a week ago. I think it should been on the evening news last Monday.
