You might be able to educate stupid, but there is no fix for deliberate bullying.
I suspicion that it was done by other students on campus, who were also ignorant of which orientation of the beams to use. A quick pregoogle could have told them, but they are probably unused to researching information.
They all have one thing in common.
They never do the painting in front of an audience.

I’m going with “drunk” as my primary hypothesis. Also guessing it was some callow young male student and I’d put the odds that the president of some other frat’s chapter will be dusting off the “what a shame that a few bad apples . . .” defense soon as pretty high.

Art is for ‘elitists’ …i.e.folks with and IQ above 100 and do NOT need a gun to define who they are.
