Discussion: Zinke: Reports I Threatened Senators Over Repeal Vote Are 'Laughable'

I live in Texas, so I can’t be the smartest person in the world, but did anyone in the press ask the question about why the secretary of the interior would be calling senators about a healthcare vote in the first place? Just to chat? Seems a bit out of his scope if he wasn’t calling to threaten them.

Not at all. You’ll note he didn’t say they were false, just “laughable”.

Classic non-denial ‘denial’.

Says it’s “laughable”, doesn’t say it’s not true…

Truth is often quite funny.

Yes. Ask Pioneer 0, 1, 2, 3, Ranger 3, 4, 5, 6, Luna 5, 6, 7, 8, Surveyor 2, 4, Zond 1967A, 1967B, most of the Luna series…

Ah, well, then of course no threats were issued. After all, every accusation leveled against this administration is met with a reponse that it’s “laughable” or some other similar adjective. And since it never then happens that further information comes out proving that the accusation was actually anything but laughable, I totally trust him when he says this.

In this case, laughable means true.

And Murkowski chairs one of the committees that oversees his Interior department. So the joke may be on him in the end.

Fixed your picture of Zinke.

My god, wait till he finds out that the sun is a mass of flaming gas that throws large flares at us like target practice. He will never walk in the sunshine again.

Why was I not informed of the frightening development?

In other words: Yes.

Yes, the idea of you being capable of intimidating anyone is indeed laughable when your head looks like an oddly shaped eggplant

So… add Zinke as one more bully and liar in the Trump administration !
And incompetent.
Nothing new here. Trump loves incompetent self-centered bullies… who lie a lot!

What’s laughable is that hokey Boy Scout Uniform he wore at Republican President Donald Trump’s appearance at the Boy Scout Jamboree.

Being a good soldier who can follow orders is both your biggest strength and your biggest flaw. You should begin every day with the prayer, “lead me not into temptation.” You are following a person who is not a good man.

I’m beginning to believe that the ability to tell bald-faced lies is a requirement to join this “administration.”

I am assuming that the threat, whether overt or implied (most likely implied by the unusual nature of the person making the call to express His Orangeness’s displeasure), went something like this: “You’ve got a nice state there with a lot of federal land. It’d sure be a shame if somebody messed it up.”

The journalist posing the question, when answered with a denial, should ask “Would you swear that under oath under penalty of perjury?”

Per Senator Rogers, that isn’t too far off. It was along the lines of, “You know those regulations you want on mining and roads? Fuggedaboudit.”

“The moon has been characterized as a threat, too, so I think it’s laughable,” [Zinke] replied.

Zinke actually mooned Murkowski? I hadn’t heard that before.

So, right now I’m guessing that Murkowski is working on Zinke’s departmental budget request, and has put a big fat “$0” for Administration salaries and Headquaters operating expenses. $0 should work.

I understand that this is the way people from Montana talk. The rest of us call this a “non sequitur”.

non sequitur
noun

  1. Logic. an inference or a conclusion that does not follow from the premises.
  2. a statement containing an illogical conclusion.
