Does Vodka cause memory loss?
The Senate needs Maxine Waters from the House to hang around and slap Sessions every time he lies.
…break these weasels of that bad habit real quick.
“This bizarre sidestep allowed Sessions to avoid saying whether he ever discussed the federal Russia probe or Comey’s handling of that investigation with Trump.”
No, it wasn’t the sidestep. It was Republicans who allowed Sessions to avoid answering questions without any legal basis to do so. Imagine Eric Holder, or Loretta Lynch taking such a stand. He and she would be behind bars right now in contempt of Congress.

Gillespie, a political strategist and former chair of the Republican National Committee, emerged the winner with just over a percentage point. The state pays for a recount if candidates are under .5 percent.
I love Borowitz, and it was just the other day he was complaining sort of that this administration is such a real time satire of one it’s harder and hard to create satire of it.
Guess nobody will ever get sick enough of the lies to do something about it. These poor, dumb, decent people think republican work in their interest. You tell them the truth, they either run from you or hit you in the jaw.
I give up. Now that 80 percent of the money is owned by six people, who gives a s*it about anything.
It’s scary how close Gillespie’s opponent, a passenger on Trump’s bandwagon, came to winning this. Gillespie is odious, but his opponent was even worse. We’ve got to make sure that Northam wins in November.
I’m beginning to think somebody’s trying to bamboozle somebody around here. Now if Sessions truly believes that his decision to be involved in the Comey firing was merely a “personnel change” that he had every right to participate in, and merely “a fresh start”,at the FBI, as he has testified to Congress, then why did the department wait for Rosenstein to do it, and why didn’t Sessions write the memo himself? There were contemporaneous media reports that case doubt on this account and recognized these suspicious circumstances, suggesting there was another motive to the firing (Russia). Was Sessions not aware of these? What did he make of them? Didn’t he see the problem his recusal had made?
We know that Rosenstein at the time had considered resigning when he recognized that his words were employed in a manner he found objectionable. According to Sessions’ testimony, he too was kept in the dark about the true nature of the firing and was misled. Did he consider resigning at THAT point?
welcome! only three hours old, and already making friends!
And the first place prize for being the biggest cheese-eater and suck-up arse-wipe during yesterday’s hearings goes to Sen Blunt for the following!
SEN. ROY BLUNT: Thank you, chairman. Attorney General, it’s good to see you here and it’s good to see Mary. I’m sure there’s probably other places you would both rather be today but you’ve always looked at public service as something you did together, and it’s good to see you here together and know that your family continues to be proud and supportive of what you do.
Sessions not only obstructed the Senators, his whole shtick yesterday felt like a pro Russian/Putin sympathizer…not for one second did he raise the issue of Russia and Putin rigging our election and that we better get serious about stopping them. Not once…that is pretty incriminating for out nation’s top law enforcement officer.
Sessions needs to resign.
Yeah, I posted that interview somewhere here. I had noticed he had some lulls in his posts. Still, he seems to nail it.
Alternate Headline: "Nation’s Attorney Stonewalls the Nation."
If Sessions has zero recall of what he says or what he does in the conduct of his job as a US Senator or USAG, then he has disqualified himself from holding public office ever again.
Yes. The eyes betray him completely.
agreed
Chances are the bad feelings between Stewart and Gillespie won’t last long.
OK, let’s just say for argument’s sake that Sessions has nothing to hide; that he never had any illicit contact with the Russians; that he is squeaky clean. In that case he has been an awful example of a well-behaved attorney general. Sessions is the Nation’s chief law enforcement officer; his job is to see that the laws are faithfully executed. His testimony demonstrates that he is willing to avoid complying with the law, and cagily reserves the right to find justification for his non-compliance later. Would he tolerate this conduct in a witness in a criminal or federal case?
Yesterday the nation got treated to Southern good ol’ boy smooth talk, the kind that soothes ruffled feathers and mutes plain talk while the boys do their deals around the cracker barrel.
Sessions is just what he looks like: a little weasel that is constitutionally incapable of candor, a wimp, a whiner and very weak person - just the kind Donald Trump would want for the Attorney General of the US.
He almost had a fainting spell as Sen. Kamala Harris was pushing past his blather to get a yes or no answer to a simple question.
And he kept returning to some mythical DOJ “practice” that protects people like him from the consequences of their lies, as if the DOJ is some gentlemen’s club with a raft of unspoken rules. (And maybe it actually is, to our great enlightenment. He “thinks” the protocols are in writing but isn’t sure. When (I think) Harris pressed to get a copy, he demurred.)
He also kept referring to having to get some kind of permission to answer tough questions, from government legal experts. The AG - has to get permission from the big boys!!
The entire operation from Trump all the way down through his cabinet and into the GOP Congress is controlled like a mob operation - “You answer the wrong question I break-a you face!”
Is this what is going on?
Americans, take a good look. This has been simmering below the surface for our entire history. Now it’s bubbling up like a pimple full of pus. Antibiotics aren’t going to cure this. Surgery might.
Russia has a mafia too, you know.
