Actually I would characterize the NRA as a group both as psychopaths and sociopaths.

Sociopath: A person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience.

The NRA members’ obsession with lethal weapons is truly sciopathic and trumps (pun intended) any other altruistic motives to which they they may cling. Just look at what these wingnuts did to the wildlife sanctuary in Oregon. They deserve no respect whatsoever. They need treatment, and in this case, jail time.

The NRA overlooked The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. In it the sorcerer’s apprentice instructed the broom to clean the house and fill only the tub with water as he watched the sorcerer instruct it to do. Of course the apprentice’s power did not include the sorcerer’s power to make it stop.

In the NRA version, the NRA plays the broom’s role that floods the house with guns instead of water. And the apprentice is an America powerless to make it stop.

Subjecting kids to NRA propaganda is not OK, but let’s at least keep it as real as it may be, and make its fairy tales reflect the scariness that is the NRA.

In my version of this “fairytale” the witch hears footsteps on her property and opens fire, killing Hansel and maiming Gretel. The villagers ultimately understood because they loved guns so much. The witch was able to get off the hook legally because she “felt threatened”. Still a win for guns though.

The NRA is entitled to whatever version of reality they want. I don’t believe that we should be controlling the thoughts of others or the lack thereof.

So in the spirit of choosing my own reality and my own facts I choose to believe that John Wayne was a cross dresser, Robert E. Lee was a woman, Thomas Jefferson was in actual fact the first African-American president of the United States, the Constitution was actually a big joke and the founding fathers are laughing, the Confederate Flag was originally a gay pride symbol, Charlton Heston was a coward and the Wright brothers were muslims…
