Kids & Guns.
Fun time for the whole family!

Children aren’t allowed to drive cars, they aren’t allowed to drink alcohol. This is because this would be dangerous and negligent on the part of any adult who allowed them to drive or drink.
But in the good ole’ US of A, well shootin’ a gun is a God given right.
AND THE INSANITY CONTINUES!!!
Although the shooting was ruled accidental, local authorities could file charges against whoever left the weapon unsecured.
Except they won't.
Need more guns.
Guns will always intrigue people who love guns, age, race, criminality, class, mentality, all be damned. This piece of metal will continue to cause such heartache and devastation to so many, yet so many are intrigued. I wonder why?
“It was an accident” implies there was neither intent, nor responsibility. There may not have been intent, but there is responsibility. Accidents are preventable and a loaded gun is an accident waiting to happen…
The good 11 year old with a gun was clearly the negligent one in this case. Where was he?
Ok, the Good Guy With a Gun was Johnny-on-the-Spot this time but he didn’t do anything cause freedom.
In the careless firearms incidents on TPM, Raw Story and Wonkette for 2015, this is the FIRST appearance by South Carolina. Last year the Cradle of Traitors was tied with Tennessee for fourth place.
Although it may not address your question “why?”, this survey by Pew in 2014 may give some insights into who of us is attracted to gun ownership, but note that gun ownership in the U.S. is predominantly a white male attribute.
The new research also suggests a paradox: While blacks are significantly more likely than whites to be gun homicide victims, blacks are only about half as likely as whites to have a firearm in their home (41% vs. 19%). Hispanics are less likely than blacks to be gun homicide victims and half as likely as whites to have a gun at home (20%).
Americans with a gun at home also differ politically from other adults. Republicans are twice as likely as Democrats to be members of a gun-owning household. Political independents also are more likely than Democrats to have a firearm in their homes.
As a group, Americans who have a gun at home see themselves differently than do other adults. According to the survey, adults in gun-owning households are more likely to think of themselves as an “outdoor person” (68% vs. 51%) or “a typical American” (72% vs. 62%), and to say “honor and duty are my core values” (59% vs. 48%).
Men are three times more likely than women to own a gun or guns.
Edit: A really interesiting tidbit from the Pew Report that squares with the Gallup results “But regional differences emerge when race is factored into the analysis. White southerners are significantly more likely to have a gun at home (47%) than whites in other regions. But because blacks disproportionately live in the South and are only half as likely to have a gun at home as whites, the overall rate for the southern region falls to 38%.”
Kids (boys), guns, and fiddle-fucking around…WHAT could possibly go wrong?!
god bless the 2nd amendment!
“local authorities could file charges against whoever left the weapon unsecured.”
But they won’t, because we wouldn’t want to deter wanton gun worship, now would we?
The handgun functioned exactly as it was designed to. Allowing a child access to the weapon was not accidental. If the parental unit intended to teach the children how to shoot there was a responsibility to maintain the safety of everyone on the range. But it’s too late for learning from the lesson. Guns are made to be lethal. Condolences to the family.
A special big Thanks MoFo! to the gun industry for promoting the insanity that everyone needs a gun.
Which is actually a pretty good achievement since men are 100% more likely to have a tiny penis they feel a deep need to overcompensate for.
The only time these types of “accidents” will stop is when the person responsible for not having the gun secured is sent to jail. And I don’t care if the person has"suffered enough". I could say the same for anyone whe drove drunk, killed someone in a crash, and then felt remorse about thier actions. They go to jail anyway. Sending a few people to jail might get across the idea that, when there are rghts, there also comes responsibilities.
RESPONSIBLE, LAW ABIDING GUN OWNERS!
They want their FREEDOM!
Its ability to reach out and touch someone.
It’s the grown-up version of peeing your name in the dirt/snow.
Having fired handguns and black-powder muskets on extremely rural but unsecured land, I can tell you there is a real kick (intentional pun) in pointing at something and making it fall down from a distance. I suspect there are few people in more crowded areas who feel the same need, and those who do have other issues.
@Ralph_VonHolst: I expect this is a real issue for any Democrat running for office. He/she isn’t going to get the extreme gun owner vote, but I’d bet the farm that so-called independents would be happy to see common-sense gun laws enacted and enforced.
The family was visiting a range in Ohio, according to the report.
I take my family to the beach, bicycling, fishing, hiking, to a farm, to the museum, or canoeing. I’ve never taken them to the gun range, does that make me a bad parent?
I think we need to get past the idea that a gun is compensation for a tiny penis, which is another way of stating that a man with a large penis generally feels more powerful than a man who is, shall we say, underendowed. I think a major reason for the rise in gun ownership, as evidenced by the majority of guns being owned by white males, is that the anachronistic white males of this country sense a loss of personal power to both women and persons of color.
There are certainly people who are responsible gun owners, people who are secure in their sense of selves and where they fit in society. Unfortunately, owning a gun makes an insecure person feel more powerful; thus, the more powerless they feel, the more they hold on to their guns for dear life, so to speak. It’s sad, and it’s potentially dangerous, especially when they feel the compulsion to gain power by using their guns on people they themselves perceive as powerless.
