Asking for $10,000 in damages? Is Dr. Evil involved?

Chobani is asking for $10,000 in damages, according to the suit.

Needs more zeroes

I suspect it’s less about the money and more about the public shaming…

On the one hand we have an odious substance that causes people to spew, disgusting unspeakable things and on the other hand we have a mediocre yogurt with excellent marketing.

Alex Jones is still alive and Joanie Cunningham’s dead.

It just isn’t fair.

I hope Jones gets a terminal disease and suffers terribly. He is an unconscionable POS.

Kristin,
The filing states “in excess of $10,000” “… to be determined at trial …”.

I suspect this is to put a minimum threshold on it.

Perhaps wishing he sees the light and denounces all his insanity would be a better use of your wish, especially if it is your last one.

How about both?

But he doesn’t have any

Seriously hitting his wallet > his supposed morality.

Now doing this is somewhat sim to what what happened with Gawker, but i don’t think that Jones has any personal shame to go after.

This is just what attorneys need to allege to move the case into district court rather than small claims/conciliation court. The damage they will be seeking will be much, much more.

Well my very bigly deal would be $100,000,000.00 or $100,000.00 and a week in the stocks, location to be determined by public poll.

A quick check revealed that a $10k minimum in Idaho gets you a District Court trial instead of a Magistrate judge.

I notice also that Chobani wants a jury trial. They aren’t looking for a quick decision – they want to put Alex Jones on the stand and confront him with all of his lies and his harmful statements made with no substantiation.

I see that @jordanolsen26 was quicker with the reason for the $10k minimum.

It’s a bold step for Chobani. Even their extensive experience with microbes may not translate into success dealing with other, lower organisms.

Hahahaha…and his statements in divorce court trying to keep his kids by admitting he’s a faker and a liar will now be used to fuck his ass mightily. Couldn’t be happening to a bigger douche. I hope his prostate pops.

HAHAHAHAHA When even the yoghurt companies are after you, you’re well and truly fucked.

The Complaint says “in excess of $10,000.” I’ve had a couple of cases in Idaho, though I’m not a member of the Idaho bar. I suspect this is a jurisdictional requirement but not the amount of damages they will actually seek, and that the amount of actual damages will be fleshed out in other pleadings or discovery documents.

If it’s anything like MA, it’s to prove a jurisdictional requirement for the normal trial court system (in MA, the “superior courts”), as opposed to the more municipal-oriented system (in MA, the “district courts”) where things like small claims and evictions are heard.
