Grims, because Granny Mitch is a trophy. Nunn, because it might hasten Georgia’s move to blue.
Childers? The moment there’s a poll on Childers vs. McDaniel (I see zero ground game for Cochran in this state), Childers won’t get a penny.

The irony is that this is (in part) what you get from allowing/encouraging unlimited money in political campaigns. In the old days, with a few establishment gatekeepers controlling the funds, tea party types never would have gotten a hearing from the base. (The Koch brothers as democratic sleeper agents – hmm.)
When breaking into a nursing home and taking video of an opponent’s sick wife is rewarded by GOP voters, I think I’ll choose to never visit that state…take pains to drive around it when going on vacation. There are some really sick people residing in MS and I don’t mean in nursing homes.
Ahhhh…yes! Saw this movie of slime&depravity before: “Mississippi Derping” wasn’t it?
No matter who wins, Mississippi loses. As do the rest of us.
Choosing between Cochran and McDaniels…hmmmm…which do you want…syphilis or gonorrhea? Choices, choices!
Oh Mississippi…how can we ever forget you…if you won’t go the f*ck away.
As I think about all this, Mississippi seems more and more like a place in H.P.Lovecraft’s works…a backwards, degenerate race of people given over to cruelty and madness, worshiping their deformed and vengeful gods amid a pile of bones, skin and ichor, working to bring about the end of the humanity with the return of their evil masters…The Elder Ones (AKA: Bagger & Con GOPigs)
Too harsh???
The ONLY reason why the bleating sheople of the WooWooRight in Mississippi and elsewhere are even called the “Tea Party” is because “Homophobic, Racist, Misogynistic, Illiterate, Inbred Trailer Trash” was waaaaaaaaaay’ too much for them to remember.
This McDaniels fellow strikes me as a David Duke wannabe…
Wonder what kind of linens are hanging in this asshole’s closet.
You might have a point, but Democrats have to stop reflexively apologizing for everything.
Not if BHO and his people keep up with the unforced errors, like bringing Bowe Bergdahl’s parents to the White House and calling him a hero the same day they are starting another fire with the coal standards. The coal standards probably could not wait, but to give this Bergdahl thing more publicity than it deserved was just nuts. You wonder if anyone there reads newspapers— hard copies or on-line— or if they just keep their heads in their own echo chamber. Sometimes I wish they would just get out of the way.
“it would take a phenomenal effort by the incumbent or a big gaffe by the challenger to change the momentum…”
They had that monumental gaffe (actually a few of them) by the challenger and it didn’t take. At all.
Screw Mississippi. They voted for this - let them have it.
You state reality that republicans have moved too far to the right for their own good but the average voter, esp. republican voter will only see the “R” next to the name on the ballot and recall “republican” from years gone by. And then vote against their own personal self interest. When the smoke clears there will be buyer’s remorse.
I certainly, as an independent, look upon republicans with extreme disgust. Then again I wish democrats could fire up a pair of stones and take advantage to GOP stupidity far more than they do currently. Then I might be convinced to change my voter registration.
Problem with that approach (“let them have it”) is each republican elected to the Senate is a disaster for reasonably sane people.
That’s sort of an uncharitable attitude to take toward the ~40% (mostly African-American) who never voted for any of this, but have to live with the results.
G.O.P
Grandiose, Obsolete, Pathological
Actually, most poll data I’ve seen shows that the Republican brand name is in the sewer for anyone who isn’t already a Republican (or an “independent” who would never vote Democratic). That may not help somewhere like MS where Obama Derangement reigns supreme, but in competitive states like FL, OH, VA, and soon GA and TX–along with competitive House districts in other places–this stuff will matter.
It’s like arsenic, accumulating over time and veritably poisoning their future chances at winning anywhere but the dyed-in-the-wool Republican ridings.
Despite Chris McDaniel’s extraordinary victory over Thad Cochran, this has been a terrible election cycle for the Tea Party. They should be running their own primaries, not trying to compete with Republicans. This will get them better conservative candidates.
The Tea Party also made the big mistake of not throwing out John Boehner and Mitch McConnell who are hell bent on destroying and dismember the Tea Party at the behest of the corporate thugs and tax cheats.
Um… ok.
Thanks for illustrating that to some people, Obama is the boogeyman, even in a local election.
It’s the sneaky eyes and 5 o’'clock shadow that make him look like a punk to steer clear of.
