Discussion: Yale Classmate Recalls Kavanaugh As Frequent, Heavy Drinker

Sanders:

has allowed the Republican tRump Toadies in the Senate to dictate what these terms look like, and what the scope of the investigation is

If they don’t interview Squi (Chris Garrett) this entire process is a sham. Why is he not on the list of interviewees?

The guy went out with Dr. Blasey in High School, was one of Kavanaugh’s friends, and is listed on the day that many point to (July 1 on the Kavanaugh Calendar) as a possibility for the encounter described by Dr. Blasey

Inquiries into subjects such as the amount of drinking done by Kavanaugh may well be deemed irrelevant by the Reps because it doesn’t clearly go to what happened in that bedroom many years ago. That’s all they want to discuss. They don’t want find information that directly bears on the credibility of Kavanaugh and Ford. They don’t want to consider the many obvious lies Kavanaugh told before the committee.
This investigation will likely prove to be yet another farce. I have a little, a very little, glimmer of hope that after all the crap Trump has hurled at the FBI and other law enforcement, the Investigators may go out of their way to go as deep and far as they possibly can - and if they can’t follow leads they consider important because of the WH directives, that they say that plainly in their report.

The big question is what will Flake and Collins do. I have little faith in the Reps permitting a proper investigation or in the 2 senators behaving morally.

Collins already sounds like she plans to hide behind the non-investigation investigation. No surprise there!

That’s the sense I’ve had all along. Her comments from the start have been hedging toward, or simply hiding, her support. Murkowski is the only one who I felt might balk. And I don’t think that’s a given, particularly since it wouldn’t matter if no one else follows, or if a red state Dem gives in.

While the sexual allegations are serious, may be we should address of the issue of unaddressed alcoholism.

Perhaps the issue is common in politics. Regardless there comes a time when we should address it, in particular for the highest seats in our government.

It is a very serious problem.

In days gone by it was nudge, nudge, wink wink. Likes a little of the sauce he does.

Christine Todd Whitman (former Repub NJ Governor 1994-2001) has a piece, very critical of the process (including the snubbing of Merrick Garland) in todays Financial Times. ( Oct.1 /2018).
The title is “There should be no rush on Supreme Court Decision” she suggests there may be better choices than BK, ouch.

Makes me think she is aiming for a 2020 POTUS run ? (She is 72, maybe not the best age )

some bits

and

I take it as a ‘NO’ to Judge Kavanaugh, right ?

I wonder if Kavanaugh and Lindsey Graham get together to practice wrinkling their noses to convey their discontent over the allegations and questioning.

As an aside on Kavanaugh’s heavy drinking, his “100 Keg Club” boast for the summer of 1982 would equal 1,650 cans of beer. Now, that is some alcohol consumption!

Better headline: Yale Classmate Says That Kavanaugh Committed Perjury In Front Of The Entire Nation

Alcoholism is definitely a serious problem (especially for someone in a position to influence the political policies, laws and social fabric of an entire nation) … and so is perjury.

“His claim that there was no verification for Ms. Ford’s charges…”
This to me makes me wonder what info did Sen. Graham get, when did he get it, and from whom? Is Graham playing Trump’s game of if it isn’t reported on Fox then it’s fake, or only relying on Fox instead of staff interviews, and other sources for information?

Hopefully the Democrats, and enough members of the public, say over and over again, loud and clear, that the information coming to light about Kavanaugh’s heavy drinking is important because:

(1) his heavy drinking during the time period in question makes him an unreliable witness re: what happened with Dr. Ford in that he may have been too drunk to even clearly remember what did or didn’t happen;

(2) he committed perjury when he repeatedly claimed he wasn’t a heavy drinker, and that alone disqualifies him (especially from a seat on the Supreme Court); and

(3) if he was willing to lie under oath, to the U.S. Senate and in front of the entire nation, about his drinking, he’d certainly be willing to lie about assaulting and/or trying to rape women. It shows he has zero credibility.

We like beer too.
What is the problem???

I cannot understand how all these smart people sitting in that hearing room with extensive legal and other experience cannot notice tha Kavanaugh has severe mental and possibly medical issues. Just isolate him for 48 hours and see what happens if he can’t get to his stash, he will have convulsions. Problem solved without the FBI.

The same goes for Trump. Letting him carry on is like having a cow with Mad Cow Disease in your barn and pretending nothing is wrong. We all will pay the price for that.
