This guy has been pining for war with Iran for decades…much like Bush and Cheney were convinced to go to war with Iraq, even if they had to make up a whole lot of bullshit to get us there.

Attempted regime change in Iran will be costlier and more difficult than the attempted regime change in Iraq. America will flush down its international leadership/credibility, trillions of dollars, and many lives in pursuit of this stupidity. Add in Russia annexing more territories, EU fractured, NATO fractured, and American paring back its free trade opportunities (see TPP, NAFTA), and it’s very easy to see a picture of stark American decline in just two years of President Trump. Quite the payoff for our adversaries Russia cough cough.
I don’t know. Pompeo is bringing it up on his Middle East tour. They might actually be planning to do this.
Had we just up and attacked Iran then I expect every Shia Muslim on Earth would declare jihad on us and it would quickly get very ugly. A lot of Sunni Muslims would join in as well. We would also be scooping up the embers of Jerusalem, Haifa, and dozens of other towns in Israel. An unprovoked attack on Iran would set all of southwest Asia ablaze and would mark us as a pariah for decades. This is arguably is the dumbest idea yet out of trumpland.
