I told Peter not to drink the polonium tea, but no.

There were hints that a big story was coming but this doesn’t seem all that earth shattering. Perhaps some details were left out of the initial reporting.

Another day, another ham-handed GOP attempt to destroy democracy. Meh…

How about this detail:

“Investigators have examined reports from intelligence agencies that describe Russian hackers discussing how to obtain emails from Mrs. Clinton’s server and then transmit them to Mr. Flynn via an intermediary, according to U.S. officials with knowledge of the intelligence.”

Sure sounds to me like “evidence of collusion” between Russian hackers and the Trump campaign…

So the bad guy’s already dead? Well, I guess we can just move on then…nothing to see here…

It is a bombshell in fact. What happened to Mr. Smith who is apparently now deceased? Anyone know?

There are a lot of hackers in Russia who aren’t part of the government. Also, Peter Smith was not part of the Trump campaign and it is not clear whether Flynn knew this guy was passing around his name.

I am not trying to dismiss this story. It just seems like several key details were left out, either because the WSJ was asked not to report them or because the reporters could not get enough confirmation.

Uh, it would seem to be evidence of collusion. It’s a strong suggestion about what Flynn has on Trump. People could testify that an American Presidential campaign worked with a hostile foreign government to sway an election in a number of highly illegal ways that are pretty earth shattering IMHO compared to any sort of wrongdoing previously considered conceivable. Just because we’ve suspected it was there all along doesn’t mean this is not a big deal. It’s pretty possibly the reason for the big drive on the part of Hannity and others to downplay the significance of collusion should it emerge. It’s evidence Trump was trying to steal the fucking election.

To see what is in front of one’s nose needs a constant struggle.

It is unpatriotic and sick when the interests of party are placed over the interests of the country.

Does this mean Flynn is flipping and ratting out the Traitor in Chief?

Yes, but other than that what’s the big deal?

TBH I had to slap myself in my own face a couple of times to really feel it. We’ve all supped full with horrors and it’s hard to see this in the proper perspective.

This is a really big shoe.

Also while I don’t have access to the WSJ so I can’t comment on that article, I don’t think this TPM summary is very clear. The way it is written the story doesn’t seem to have much force. A few self-slaps are required.

May or may not – we all must remember, the RNC/Republicans’ emails were also hacked. Putin targeted the DNC/Democrats/Hillary, but some Repubs emails (albeit far fewer with less attention) were also leaked. Smith’s emails were among those hacked and leaked via DCLeaks.

I think – so at this point, it may not be entirely clear yet how directly or indirectly this man was involved in the Trump campaign, BUT some of us have suspected for quite some time the entire GOP is an accomplice. And we may just now have had another, and much closer, glimpse of their collusion here…
