You’re a career CIA officer, Director Haspel. Just remember that, please, and give them the professional assessment. Individual One is not entitled to and does not control the facts.

Haspel should be able to brief the senators on whether or not he was tortured using US taught techniques or not, finally an upside for that disgraceful chapter in her career.

And yes she has heard the Khasooggi tapes, she is not squeamish. Now if we could hear the tapes that she destroyed about detainees been tortured in thailand, that would be great.

So, what changed from last week exactly? Did Trump want to just get through the G20 meeting without a major controversy regarding Khashoggi erupting?

I would think the Senators who saw MBS and Putin high-fiving were as disgusted as we all are. If Haskell is honest with them, we should see some fireworks by late tomorrow.

… the White House prevented Haspel from briefing them on Khashoggi…

… after she got a bit carried away with her bone saw demonstration during her dress rehearsal.

So Haspel’s training is finally over on this subject.
“Repeat after me” for the thousandth time should be enough ya think.
you know, job security and stuff like that.

Someone who ran the rendition & torture program would not be squeamish…

Expect to see long and gray faces as they exit the briefing.

I’m gonna be a cockeyed optimist here and figure these guys sometimes wake up and remember their oaths when Trump is seriously screwing up some international situation. They know as well as anyone you could certainly sanction MbS without seriously jeopardizing mostly imaginary arms-sale billions. I’ll further hope they’ve heard a probably factual but bowdlerized version of the Khashoggi story and the CIA’s assessment of it, and they want Haspel to sand a little varnish off. This sort of thing seems to occasionally happen with the Senate. Third assumption, a bit more cynical: They know the day may come when they want to be able to point to a modicum of oversight and restraint they exercised over this president.

Let’s say I’m skeptical.

Haspel should be facing prison bars for crimes against humanity.

But Obama and Holder decided American torturers and war criminals should not prosecuted. So now she is head of the CIA.

She has no greater moral standing than the murders of Khashoggi.

No democracy, no justice.

Haspel is apparently the only trumper who has heard the tape of Khashoggi’s killing. Pompeo and Mattis begged off because ‘they don’t speak Arabic’. trump intimated he wasn’t into snuff tapes.

The Senate sent a message with the Yemen resolution.

I wonder if McConnell is finally starting to have some bad days at the office.

I suspect Bloody Gina will deliver a hack job. She’ll saw off the details and life will be … gone grand.

OT Could anyone tell if HW’s casket was full of petro-lucre? They parked that dog there for a reason.
