Discussion for article #239047
I’m curious. Are there statues of Union soldiers sprinkled all over the deep south?
That’s ridiculous! The only real way to protect it is to completely encase it in concrete.
There are markers all over Georgia reminding all what the Union army burned there on Sherman’s March to the Sea, if that’s what you mean.
Not quite.
…and then, gently, carefully, with all the respect and dignity the statue deserves, dump it in the Potomac. There it can sit forever–preserved as “art”–in the muck and sludge fitting for those who commissioned it.
Most of which are false, according to James Loewen.
I often wonder, if the Daughters of the Confederacy put the same energy into women’s voting rights whether it would have taken so long to get them. My feeling is not.
(Too late for sublimated sexual issues from the loss of so many men; were they all suffering daddy issues?)
Yes, protect it by wrapping it in something flammable…good idea…
Seriously. Never read The Three Pigs?
It was very clever of them to use transparent wood for the box.
kill it with fire. I’d suggest explosives, but it is a populated area.
> “I’d suggest explosives, but it is a populated area”
It’s a populated area, and you’re advocating arson? Even the Professor is not that nutty.
Take that thing out to the nearest military gunnery range (Aberdeen Proving Ground is close by.) and use it for target practice.
¨The statue was erected in 1913 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy.¨
Wouldn’t have thought them capable of erections…
Might need a slightly bigger box for Stone Mountain…
They got wood now…
Box is about 5’ too short…
im really sick of pandering to the confederate loving crowd. the CSA were stupid, hateful, and thought slavery was worth killing and dying for.
we shouldnt take down flags with honor guards, move statues only after we ask nicely, nor should we allow any of that to continue.
just burn that battle flag, and destroy the statues.
the SOUTH LOST- damnit
I’d be curious to know the mission statement of the Daughter’s of the Confederacy. And I’d love to hear them expound on the state of race relations in the Confederacy and how they justify even the existence of their organization
