Has Lindsey shown up?

I get that not everyone is down with reclaiming some terms. (I was and remain conflicted about “slut”). But selling the crowns? Point missed.

The PussyHat Project was driven by donations – knitters, crocheters, and sewists making hats and sending them either with friends going to the march or sending them to a central donation point whence they were distributed to marchers.

And yeah, the website didn’t mention DumpTruck’s tape directly but I don’t know anyone who was involved in making hats who wasn’t aware of relationship.

Love the march and I support the women. (do you hear a “but” in the wings?) But, the objectification of genitalia is a bit too prehistoric for me. I think I’m from the wrong generation to appreciate this.

Actually I prefer the crowns, they work with different looks.
Now as a man, a penis hat, for me, would never work. I’m basically a jeans, striped shirt, leather biker jacket guy. With a dick hat on my head…NO WAY.

There’s nothing to appreciate about it. Why play in the men’s world of objectifying women? It was and is a bad idea. And over-the-top for sure…

It’s to remind people of what Trump said about women and to hang it as an anchor around the GrOPer party’s neck. Because apparently no entire generation thought it was distasteful enough to keep them from voting for the current Groper in Chief.

Tragically so! The crowns fail in two ways. First, once again commercializing a protest in a trivializing way (& forcing us to be consumers, not makers). But the deeper problem. Puts us back into the “need to look cute” “need to look sexy” merry-go-round of misogynistic culture.

Totally agree. And royalty isn’t what we’re about in the US - I don’t want to be on a pedestal, I want to be equal, and appreciated for being a fully-enfranchised citizen.

Also, as a knitter who participated in that way, the pussyhat project was all about reclaiming our bodies from the man who only sees women in terms of them, and his approval or disapproval of them.

As a man, you really aren’t quite capable of understanding the meaning behind the pussyhats. We are reclaiming our genitalia from someone who only sees women in terms of our bodies and whether they excite him, and if he approves of them.

This isn’t about objectifying ourselves. It’s about the absolute reverse of that.

Recall the wedge shaped garrison caps? We GI’s called them “cunt hats” – only because of their shape. It was nothing political.

Here’s a little known fact, the MAGA hats are actually ’ AssHats’ and MAGA stands for, Make Ass Great Again.
That’s straight from the horse’s ass.

Exactly.

Me too!

And yes, there is a heaping helping of “I don’t care what you think, this is not for you,” built into the hat project.

Please, do not lecture me. I am not a misogynist in any way shape or form. You know nothing about me – my age, life experiences, etc – to be making statements that presume to know what I’m capable of thinking feeling, stating etc, about this current or past political state of affairs.

EXACTLY. Love men, married to one, no problem there. But new POTUS wasn’t bragging about grabbing dicks.

Are you Alcaray? Nope? Wasn’t even talking to you.

But hey, since you spoke up here - might wanna pull back on the c-word. It’s pretty damned offensive in the 21st century.

And I’m old enough to offer advice (it’s not lecturing, grown up & accept a hint).
