“She is smart and tough,” Williams said.

She just can’t read a gas gauge very well.

Right!

The woman is 9 months pregnant and to induce labor she goes walking around a casino, not a hospital, then she runs out of gas on a remote road in the National forest. Then she starts a fire in drought stricken California.

Yup, tough she is though, smart…meh!

Saw the header and thought, “Well, since it can’t be Bristol, wonder if Willow or Sarah has wondered off trail while hiking!”

Oh c’mon now…Those Palin gals are harder to pull out of than Iraq…soooooo’???

Well, smart and tough don’t always coincide with sensible…

Yeah that sounds really smart! Go to your local gambling joint drop a few quarters and what they hey drop a baby as well. And if that doesn’t work of course find another gambling joint and don’t put gas in your car because you need the money to gamble with while your trying to get the baby to drop…what a crock this story is! Doesn’t anyone see anything wrong with this picture?

The baby is only four lbs., and this mother doesn’t sound she’ll have the wherewithal to have a preemie tended to. Other than that, this story is very Onionesque.

Many believe that walking is a good way to induce labor, and the Oroville casino is huge - think indoor mall:

Yeah I get the walking around part but choosing a casino is little suspect to me. And then she wants to go to another casino when walking around the first one doesn’t work? So what you are telling me is that all the casinos are that big? And since you mentioned malls, why didn’t she go to a mall then? And most pregnant woman aren’t going to stray that far from a hospital if they are that close. Sorry I don’t believe her.

Oroville’s a town of 15K people. I doubt it has a big mall to walk around.

Lots of those towns. I went to one on the border of NV and UT while I was stuck in Salt Lake one Saturday. The town consisted of 4 casinos, a convenience store and a trailer park. Absolutely nothing else.

On the plus side though, I got to see a really neat lightning storm that night driving back across the desert!

I guess her slots weren’t paying out. (sorry, I’ll go now :disappointed_relieved: )

It does not. And it can be quite hot - easily over 100 in the afternoon - and relatively humid. The casinos are likely the largest publicly accessible air-conditioned space around.

That being said, I agree with the other commenters - this was not “smart.”

Ok, Mom is an idiot, but I can’t help but admire her, their, will to survive.

Ok I can accept that as a reasonable explanation but I still have doubts about the entire story…I mean I had three kids. What pregnant woman in her right mind is going to place herself in a situation where her doctor is not on call or she is within shouting distance of a medical facility? Her entire story just doesn’t make sense given her condition…

Gastric bypass post-ops are high-risk pregnancies in any case (baby almost guaranteed to be low birth weight) and normally the patient is asked to commit not to become pregnant for at least two years after the surgery to allow the body to fully recover.

Of course it is a proven medical fact that walking around to induce labor is much more effective if the walking around happens in two casinos. In fact it is quite ineffective anywhere else.

I thought Obama said bees are good. More lies, just like him supposedly being born in Hawaii…

(Come on, what’s a story if you can’t make it about Obama??)
