The needy drama queen
They’re doing a pretty good job of smearing the wife. I suppose it will make it easier to get McDonnell off the hook and keep his political career a possibility. The crazy woman defense. Paint her as emotional wreck riding the cotton pony and a total bitch. He’s sure to find sympathy.
Why can’t she be a “total bitch” AND he can be a total crook at the same time? There is enough blame to go around for both of them, and I don’t think that he will look good at the expense of his wife. Or the other way 'round. They’re both looking for what they are…
No doubt about it, based on ALL the statements coming out about her, Maureen is not an easy person to get along with (to say it nicely), but Maureen didn’t force her husband to illegally accept gifts from a supporter.
Agreed!!
Burke testified that he thought Maureen McDonnell was suffering from “possibly depression” and suggested she receive counseling. The governor was not receptive to that recommendation, he said.
I suppose that would have been politically inopportune, and maybe not in line with his evangelical brand of religion, if they believe that you should be able to overcome any kind of mental or emotional illness with prayer. But it’s really unconscionable to reject any possibility of counseling out of hand if his advisers were concerned enough to suggest it. Even if he thought her extreme behavior was simply the norm for her, it’s still possible she had been suffering from some treatable condition all along.
Even if it wasn’t an illness and just the result of being spoiled and feeling mega-entitled, some form of counseling might have been helpful.
And how does this matter in terms of the governor’s actions to sell the executive branch in Virginia to the highest bidder?
I actually think McDonnell was shaking down this business man. It was a total scam.
This bish crazy.
White collar crimes like bribery, corruption, money laundering, price fixing, extortion etc. are simply exchanges of favors among consenting adults. Nobody really gets hurt. They should be completely legal and fully protected by the First Amendment especially if religulous conservatives are doing them as a part of their deeply held faith-based beliefs. Money according to the Supreme Court’s literal interpretation of the Constitution is free speech and religion.
While the drama is interesting, can’t we get back to the grifting charges?
I hope the judge demands to see real evidence in the form of video or DNA of Maureen McDonald seducing Jonny Williams before he accepts Rob McDonnell’s crazy wife defense.
After all, Rush Limbaugh wanted to see video evidence before employers could approve contraception during his sordid tirade against Sandra Fluke.
Another Traditional Christian Marriage goes down the tubes. Damn those traditional-marriage-destroying gays!
