Good move, start getting ready for the mid-terms by keeping your opponent irretrievably linked to the Great Dotard Swamp.
the campaign for November’s election has begun!
will the repubs spend big bucks in this contested race then?
This is still a good outcome, being much closer than the standard margins for the GOP AND all the gerrymandering.
Agree that he should still hook his opponent to Trump - if the GOP can hook him to Pelosi, then what’s good for them is good for him.
In the meantime, get folks out to re-register if they were purged and make sure to take three friends with you to the polls in November.
We can do this.
The NRA and the GOP both going bankrupt in the same election cycle?
Priceless…
“the President didn’t know what he was talking about during his visit to Ohio to rally for Republican Troy Balderson”
What’s new?
good move, localizing and nationalizing the November race in the same breath
Steve Kornaki Pointed out last night how the Republicans engineered that district to ensure a Repub victory showing the before and after
Why won’t the press ask Balderson every freaking day if he supports Jim Jordan for Speaker?
How many of these fly in Repubs voted once, maybe twice?
Where is Trump’s voter fraud squad when you need them?
He’s pretty damn good for a newbie, go O’Connor!
Yes, that’s what I wanted to see this morning - a continued, straight on to November campaign.
Was afraid it would be the opposite so good to see him hitting the airwaves this morning. Hoping they can fill the gaps between now and November. I would think O’Conner has more room to grow his vote than Baldy.
Indeed. Keep working that jab!

Close is nice. But close only counts in horseshoes, not politics. As Trump and the Republicans play the game, the winner gets all the spoils and writes all the rules for the next contest…
May not have been an actual victory, but I count it as a moral victory. Dems got a close vote in a very red district, while the Republicans may have to actually campaign in places they cakewalked.
This is not the end. The GOP will no doubt spend millions of dollars in ads tying him to Pelosi (which is getting old to a lot of people), as well as playing him as someone soft on crime and illegal immigration. Dems should counter by tying Balderson to Trump and Jim Jordan. Show tons of pics of the kids separated from their families as part of trump’s zero tolerance policy (unpopular in both parties). More importantly, get EVERYONE OUT TO VOTE. The GOP is counting on the hope that people will not show up at the polls because it’s only a midterm. Be heard! #rememberinnovember #bluewave
I’m just glad it’s a Democrat who keeps clawing for the victory, even with the odds apparently against him. We D’s need to start a barnstorming strategy for every ‘close’ race in heavily gerrymandered districts and not let the Republicans roll the election, like they’re trying to do.
Green Party voters, in November vote Democratic. The 1% of voters in this district who voted Green would have elected the Democrat.
Trump is also wildly popular among rural voters in Ohio
So are meth and oxycontin.
Hillary was close, too.
Hillary won.
