Watch out for IEDs. Not being snarky here.

Had the same thought. If I were running BLM, I wouldn’t be announcing our plans, I’d just do it. Sell his abandoned cattle, pay off his debt to the taxpayers and given his wife the rest, if any is left.

I think Ma Bundy is outta luck… the cows have pretty much been abandoned and gone feral… the last descriptions were that they were very undernourished and close to starving…

if Ma were to make a claim and try to assert ownership it seems to me that animal cruelty charges might apply…

same as if you kept a couple hundred cats or dogs and couldn’t really feed them or properly care for them…

I keep linking to this video… for the cows and gun control… :cow:

The BLM has to be above reproach in the way they take that land back…if they do anything heavy handed the other ranchers are going to start raging again. Feeding into their BS will just make it all start over, but the ranchers actually aren’t all that happy about the Bundys either, since they were cheating the system. So if the BLM does things right, and shows the Bundys were abusing the federal lands, it will go a long way to mending the rift with the ranchers.

And, the ranchers are always going to be grumpy about having the feds control the land, it’s historical, so the best option is to make sure the rules are clearly followed by everyone in order to keep the peace.

Because nothing shows your anti-Guvmint cred than chopping down ā€œa large Joshua treeā€ that ā€œhad been illegally cut down and left onsite.ā€ What a bunch of stupid buffoons trying to masquerade as ā€˜good Americans’.

Fine but the BLM also has the exercise authority. $1.50 an acre to graze isn’t that prohibitive if you are dealing with sane human beings.

Yeehaw…Let’s hope these local yokels stay stuck in pokey.

The Feds better put them in isolation. With this news, Bundy heads will be exploding all over the place and endangering other prisoners.

My only concern is that it took so long to imprison and prosecute these miscreants. I do hope and pray for conviction and a long, long prison term for all of them.

Wonder if he knows ā€˜the prisoner’ as well as he knows ā€˜the negro’…

What flavor of moran cuts down a Joshua tree for sh*ts & giggles?

Why does the BLM have to be ā€œabove reproachā€ but Bundy and his little pretend soldiers were largely left free to brandish weapons, threaten gov’t agents, and make insurrection? I know Bundy and his sons were arrested, but why are the toy soldiers still walking free? If an ordinary citizen threatened a gov’t officer like that, they’d either be in jail or dead. And this doesn’t even get into the disparate racial treatment of armed insurrectionists.

Quite a man, holding back the Federal Government for years.

That’s right. Agents of the government need to be above reproach, and you certainly can’t allow them to be perceived as being heavy handed.

You know, when it’s ā€œpatriotsā€ they’re going up against.

How about repossessing his ranch for breach of payment as a start? He shouldn’t be needing it for awhile.

Well, while the grazing fees may take a few years to build up a hefty amount, wanton destruction of a protected status plan brings a lot higher penalties. When Cliven eventually passes away, the only thing he’s going to be able to leave his four boys is alone.

You always pay. Whatever your misdeeds in life you end up paying for them, either in public or behind closed doors. It saddens me to see so many ā€œgrownā€ men who can not fathom that simple truth. They think they are all powerful and will never pay for their actions. Look at the GOP. They are a big living example of their nastiness coming home to roost.

The cattle should be fattened up before sale, and the revenue applied to both Bundy’s debt and any fines and penalties assessed.

Clearly Bundy has no legal ownership rights which are legally recognizable. And while I am not a rancher, I assume that unbranded cattle still belong to whoever brands them.
