Indeed. Just like people rely on a lot of things the government has been responsible for, like keeping our food safe to eat. These days Iâm leery of food - I know the government isnât paying any attention to it. Itâs a big difference to the way we used to live - with a calm understanding that we werenât going to be poisoned.

I know one thing for sure - this $500,000+ should scare the bejesus out of the GOP.
As a point of curiosity, the mean donation (a hair over $42) is almost unchanged from the heady days of between 150k and 200k (in the $41 range).
I dunno what that tells us, if anything, but I think itâs interesting.
[ This means I didnât quite reach half the average donation. Sad (or poor)! ]
If he sues, would his lawyers get to depose Sessions and the IG? That would be illuminating.
One would think so depending on the specific cause of action.

So McCabe now has a net worth greater than Trumpâs?
Isnât that the truth. How many of us were contributing for McCabe with a little added âin your faceâ to donald? McCabe seems such a nice family man, and his wife was willing to run for a Democratic office - and from the messages I saw from him to his wife when she mentioned running â what a nice supportive husband. So if the people are enlightened a Democrat and a Republican can be in harmony. The polarity and the hostility are damaging to us and our country.
Meanwhile back to tenaâs comment â one thought danced through my mind. âWhat if this is a hoax and the money isnât REALLY going to McCabe?â And then I dismissed it â however tragedies spawn internet hoaxes.
Part of our legacy from donald is that we donât trust any longer, we have lost faith, we are more cynical. We are either frothing at the mouth out raged or we have to become blase to save our sanity. You donât have a healthy life if you are constantly enraged. In the '60âs California professor S.I. Hawakawa coined the term âpsychological habituation to warâ - we are getting psychological habituation to trumpism, as a survival tool. JMO

At the risk of sounding like one of âthose people,â one of the colossal errors of the Democratic Party, in recent years, was the failure to fight hard for government. The Republicans wanted a small government that didnât interfere in our lives. The Democrats, in my opinion, never fought hard against that position, and never fought hard for the importance of a strong, vibrant government that helps us in our day-to-day lives.
Once Reaganâs position of government being âthe problemâ became an unchallenged truth, a Trump presidency was bound to happen, I imagine.
I agree we should have stopped that in its tracks. We should have fought for the role of government and we should have explained it and we didnât very well.
It is not lost on me that each contribution reflects not just someoneâs
well wishes, but also their acknowledgement that something in this
situation is not fair or just.
If heâs willing to go to war with the man depicted on the cover of NY Magazine, he has my support. The fact that he realizes that there is more to donations than just thoughts and prayers just makes it all the sweeter.
I scrolled through some of the donations and was really impressed with how small most of them are, like less than $20. I think the nastiness of his getting fired in order to deprive him of his pension resonates with people who canât afford much.

You took the words right out of my mouth. That $500,000 is the death knell for the GOP. Thatâs a fair portion of what a candidate needs to raise to win a congressional seat. And raised here, for no better reason than folks are appalled by the Lying Orange Urine-Stain and his disrespect for Law Enforcement and the Rule of Law.
I wish it had been given to D congressional candidates instead. McCabe did us no favors and as far as Iâm concerned, is on his own.

This is not a zero-sum game. All those dollars represent votes, regardless of any fundraising a candidate might or might not manage to do. Thatâs why the GOP should be horrified.
Edit: I should point out: I think it was Rick Wilson, a Republican, who noted that there is a significant portion of the electorate who would crawl over broken glass to vote against Drumph, and this fundraiser was an opportunity for that group of folks to demonstrate their commitment.
