Discussion: With 17 Killed, FL Attack Is Deadliest School Shooting Since Newtown

And as usual the NRA will stay quiet on the situation .

Maybe not in public, but I bet they’re quietly reminding everyone they’ve bought where they stand.

National Russian Rifle Association says we need lots and lots of military weapons, high capacity magazines, armor piercing ammunition, and bump stocks. What Wayne LA Pierre has been saying is he wants mower guns.

If thoughts and prayers worked, we wouldn’t have shootings in schools. Or on our streets. Or in our homes.

But, God helps those who help themselves, so…

Watching CNN just now and I saw the flag get lowered for this latest shooting. Problem here is the flag was lowered to 2/3rds… not half. The trump crew can’t even get this right.

CNN says trump will address us shortly all about this awful tragedy.
I expect platitudes only since he so lacks empathy.
Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

I wonder if trump will call this horrible shooting … fake news…

Pathetic hypocrite that I am, I’m turning into a states rights extremist.

If the f’ing NRA owns the losers in DC, then for cripes sake, FL, pass some hard ass gun laws. We’ve got them in MA. They help. So come on state legislators. TRY IT. Screw the NRA to the wall at the state level.

And all you voters with functioning brains out there? Do NOT support candidates who take NRA money. EVER

I have a question for you Republican law makers: are the victims of the next mass shooting in your thoughts and prayers too?

Living in northeast Tennessee, there are lots of gun owners here. Most of them hunt. I don’t have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with, is the NRA and the increase of armed conceal/carry gun fetishists it has spawned. Along with Alex Jones/Infowars and Brietbart, the NRA is not just spreading a right-slanted pro-gun message, they are spreading conspiracy and paranoia.
Everywhere I go in this area I see pick up trucks with NRA stickers (right next to the Trump Pence sticker) with belligerent jingoistic slogans like “Come And Take It” or “Stand And Fight.” I’ve seen more and more (white, male) people openly carrying guns out in public. All of this has been steadily escalating since Obama, of course. An organization truly concerned with gun safety might dial it back a little bit, maybe acknowledge the awesome responsibility of owning a firearm. Hell, liquor and beer companies put a “Drink Responsibly” caption in all of their advertisements and participate in anti-DUI campaigns. Instead the NRA and their supporters basically support gun ownership on demand, free of restriction, free of responsibility, consequences be damned.
Thankfully, we have not had a mass shooting here (yet), but it’s a matter of time. We did, however, have a recent incident where one of these armed citizens thought he saw someone loading shoplifted items into a car in a Wal Mart (go figure) parking lot. Instead of pulling out his cell phone, getting a pic of the alleged perpetrators, the car, the tag#, and calling 9-11, he and his gun decided to confront them. Apparently the alleged perpetrator also had a gun, which he flashed at the armed citizen while attempting to flee. As the perpetrator sped off the citizen pulled out his gun and shot at them. In a crowded parking lot where innocent bystanders could have easily been killed. Local gun supporters, of course, called him a hero, completely oblivious to the recklessness and utter stupidity of this persons actions.
In the case of this shooting in Florida we should all be asking why the hell a 17 year old kid was allowed to own an AR-15 and how the hell he got it in the first place. We should also be asking why the hell anyone should be allowed to own an AR-15. In saner times the question might actually be asked by the President.

This is the 18th school shooting in the USA this YEAR. And it is only mid February.

We are going for a new Olympic and world record…
