Discussion for article #237001
Will anyone be able to rein in these latest outrageous actions in the state of Sen. Joe McCarthy? Apparently, WI voters don’t want democratic government.
Corruption uber alles!
Waiting for the howls of anger from the nut-jobs over the unrestrained use of overturning properly passed and signed laws in the court system by the activist judiciary. Oh wait…never-mind
If Republicans cannot win elections the proper way, (by getting the majority of people to vote for them), then the only way to win is to stop some people from voting. And we all know whom the Republicans want to stop from voting. Scott Walker is the epitome of attempts to rig elections.
Virtually everything Walker proposes and does reeks of corruption.
Their Republican voter base, of older white and more ignorant voters, is both dying out and being replaced by younger people of color. So a major Republican strategy is to implement tactics that keep those new people, who tend to vote Democratic, keep them from voting at all. This isn’t a democracy of ideas, it’s a bought-and-paid-for process of keeping elites in power and steering the ship.
Many of us WI voters worked hard to fight against Scooter and we voted.
Broad brush much?
Things Walker thinks are cool but aren’t–
-medically unnecessary procedures
-voting restrictions
-drug tests for welfare recipients
-Reagan’s firing the air traffic controllers
-cutting environmental regulations
-arresting grannies for singing
-using state funds to reward donors
-gutting education
-putting a nasty hole in the state budget

Well-stated. Agree completely. This is exactly what we are witnessing happening in the USA these days; and this effort is financed by literally billions of dollars and already controls one of the major TV networks supposedly devoted to “news”, and the other major cable news networks fail to inform the American voters about exactly what you said.

Sounds like good news to me.
Just to remind everyone, Charles Murray (“The Bell Curve”) has also promoted the idea of great restrictions on who should vote, believing as is the wont of conservatives from time immemorial that only the elites should decide for us. And he is Jeb Bush’s favorite author.
That’s the understatement of the week.
He also thinks running around the country gobbling up money from secret donors is “neat”, so that makes him about 12 years old, probably younger.
The neat thing about being around the country is that if we choose to get in, I don’t think there’s a state out there where we couldn’t play in, other than maybe Florida, where Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are at least in some of the polls essentially tied,”
It has been my understanding that while the journalists, media and public have been sleeping for the last 10 years or so that the Koch brother’s organizing of ALEC could work at the local level of stacking the political and judicial offices with conservatives that will vote their way. The Koch brothers may think they are Libertarians and want smaller government, but they want to achieve that through coercion, suppression and sabotage via large politically prejudiced government.
They claim or their judicial stooges claim to be interpreting the constitution the way the founders originally intended, but this country was not founded to suppress the individual in favor of religion, corporations and prejudice.
We the public and media have been asleep for too long and now our dreams may very well turn into nightmares.
Indeed. I don’t know what people are complaining about. Wisconsin has the best government that money can buy.
Once the lawyers for the State of Wisconsin have to justify the new voter restrictions all their arguments fall away because voter fraud across the country is right at .0067%…which is minute compared with the total voters. And guess what? When fraud is found, its republicans who are doing it 90% of the time! Imagine that…There will be no way to defend these ridiculous restrictions without the true intentions being brought to light. The gutless democratic party should have been doing this all along in all these states.
Yeah, I’m from California and we gave the nation Reagan and Schwarzenegger. Much as it pains me to admit it…

Civic duty, schmivic duty. Pass the anesthesia!
Apparently not enough of you though, since the sleaze ball won three elections.
To paint all of Wisconsin in the manner that you did was absurd. To stick to that point in response to someone who lives there, and who worked to get rid of Walker? Which pure state do you live in?
You think Wisconsin is an anomaly, and couldn’t ever ever happen in your state? Please.
