I live in WI, this has been a huge story throughout the state. So very glad they found her alive, and I hope sheās able to recover from whatever traumas she endured.
At the same time, I note that other non-white girls have also gone missing but get almost no coverage. Itās so obvious whatās going on, as it ever wasā¦
This is an incredible story. I live nearby where this all took place.
She definitely will not be the person she was before the kidnapping. It sounds like she was psychologically abused if nothing else.
Wondering if a strategy to help her would be to ask for an assist from Jaycee Dugard - she was the one that was kidnapped from her home in California and held for years by a couple of nutcases, Jaycee will certainly have an understanding of what Jayme has been through.
There is something fishy about the whole thing.
I still think that about the Jonbenet Ramsey case.
The UK papers are reporting that a pedophile serving a ten year sentence supposedly admitted to killing her by accident in a letter to a friend. I suspect itās bogus claim. Iām still bothered by the beauty pageant photos of her. They just felt so wrong.
Elizabeth Smart also.
Itās has to say something about our society that weāre happy that there are at least 2 other survivors that can help Jayme.
But it also says something about our society that these events happen every day and not all of them have the same ending.
I presume you mean well by suggesting that others who have suffered similar experiences might help but think a second: not only have they endured a horrible ordeal but forever after people expect them to provide aid to any future victims. āYou are female - you must nurtureā
āPraise the Lord,ā Allard said between sobs.
Why? What did he do? What was he doing when her parents were being murdered and she was being kidnapped?
I still think of the Ariel Castro kidnappings. How these young women were held for so long, and forgotten.
I donāt think thatās the case at all.
Thereās a special psychology that goes with being held against oneās will for an extended period of time. Specialists in this behavior donāt have the same expertise as those who have actually experienced it.
If Iāve been subject to this, Iām going to want to talk to someone thatās been through this and shares the same history, same as with anything. If I have cancer, I want to talk to a survivor, not just someone who has training but no actual hands-on experience.
Well, at least heās not getting out.
One month into his sentence, Castro committed suicide by hanging himself with bedsheets in his prison cell.
I agree. I just think that it is wrong to presume that past victims can be expected to provide support. They may choose to and thatās great but itās wrong to expect that.
Please rewrite the title.
and then go back and have someone copy-edit the story. Itās ambiguous in more than one place.
That never ceases to amaze me. Something absolutely horrible happens, and if the situation becomes slightly less horrible, all praises to Him. God gets all of the credit and none of the blame.
Even in this article someone remembers Elizabeth Smart, but not the 7 year old Milwaukee girl abducted at the same time as Smart.
The first sentence doesnāt make sense.
A 21 year old male suspect has been apprehended. Any bets that he WASNāT an undocumented immigrant?
Maybe the doctors who helped the other young women deal with their traumas will be able to help them? Their ācasesā may inform treatment of this poor young woman.
I agree that Elizabeth Smart et al may not want to be traumatized again. The āstoryā is probably hard on them.
Many of the facts were only revealed in a press conference about an hour ago. In a rush to tell the story, as is the pattern of most MSM, some of it isnāt correct.
