Hell Yeah. Stamp out Walker’s shady legacy.
The Modern Republican Party- The Party of Cheating. They never stop thinking up creative new ways to cheat.
Republicans have countered that Wisconsin had passed many state laws under similar circumstances over the past several decades, and they are planning to appeal.
How is it that I feel completely safe in assuming that the “similar circumstances” they cite, if they exist at all, are, in fact, in no way similar?
Great News. And nice Bitch slap to the fascist Wisonsin GOP and their vanishing leader Walker.
Vive la résistance! Well done!
Well, it’s a State Emergency because we ‘say’ it’s a state emergency.
One Wis State Rep said, well, I don’t agree with New Governor Tony Evans, so I want to take the power we gave to Old Governor Scott Walker, because unlike WALKER, we think Governor Evans would ‘abuse’ the power we have given to Governor Scott Walker. Governor Scott Walker was a ‘stellar’ individual, don’t you know?
Vos is slime, as you might guess.
The special session had been called expressly to consider Gov Walker’s proposed subsidy for jobs at the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. By Wisconsin law, this was the only topic to be under consideration. Somehow the agenda was shifted to the laws curbing the new governor’s powers. “We were too generous to the executive in the past,” Vos said.
A month or so after the special session, Walker unilaterally granted the $28 million dollar deal, using powers that were to be denied his successor, Tony Earl.
Fiscal Overview Boards composed of Republicans to steal the sovereignty of local Democratic government (Michigan).
Stealing a Supreme Court Nomination by refusing to consider the nominee or schedule a vote.
Nationwide gerrymandering of local and federal representation districts.
Voter suppression and fantastic claims of non existent voting fraud.
They are truly creative criminals.
“Today’s ruling only creates chaos and will surely raise questions about items passed during previous extraordinary sessions, including stronger laws against child sexual predators and drunk drivers,
Even though this had nothing to do with any of that shit .
We did this to fuck the Democrats plain and simple
We don’t want to cheat we NEED to cheat
These “extraordinary sessions” of the legislature are not rare in Wisconsin, but never before have they been used to blatantly curb the powers of an incoming governor.
Apart from that, the constitutional argument that only the governor can call an “extraordinary session” is interesting in its own right – and may be worth a court fight.
And I’d be saying all this even if the circumstances aren’t making Scott Walker look even more incompetent than we’ve all said he is.
He was once the shining great new hope of the GOP. A preacher’s son. And rolled back all the Wisconsin labor legislation in his first term. Scumbag. It is good to see him slink off into some conservative think tank bullshit job.
“For decades the Legislature has used extraordinary sessions that have widely been supported by members of both parties…”
Yeah, this one was only supported by one party. Funny thing, that.
“Today’s ruling only creates chaos and will surely raise questions about items passed during previous extraordinary sessions…"
Did the successful lawsuit against Obama’s recess appointments negate the actions of any prior? IANAL but I don’t think so.
As a Wisconsinite I’m skeptical this will survive state Supreme Court review. There is an open-seat SC election on 4/2, left-leaning candidate should win against a horrible right wing trog, but that only preserves status quo (4-3 in favor of right). Next year, however, could swing the majority, and it’s on same day as Dem presidential primary (the extraordinary session in question also came close to changing the date of SC election because of that, but they apparently have some limits).
Walker + Fitzgerald + Vos = The WI Axis of Evil
Typical Republicans. Trying to equate what they are doing to efforts to protect people from child molesters and drunk drivers. As NCsteve said this is in no way similar.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. When the Wisconsin State Democratic party takes over both houses and retains the Governor’s Mansion in 2020, they should call a special session and legislate the Republican Party a criminal enterprise and make them officially ineligible for election in Wisconsin forever.
Too bad the WI Supreme Court is packed with far right douchenozzles. This won’t last.
Spoilsport!
Sorry, but reality is out of fucks to give.
