Discussion for article #225777
Shame on Wisconsin. How did this scum bag get elected and the judges who signed on to this crap. I thought the people of Wisconsin were smarter than this. In the meantime, isn’t he under investigation for something?
Welcome to the wonderful World of Koch, where workers have no rights and need to be taught to be damned grateful that they even are allowed to have a job. After all, a job is a privilege, not a right.
So what if you can’t feed your family. They were too spoiled anyway.
No, he beat the rap. He’s home free. Now we just have to see what the D candidate can do. The recall was a huge mistake. If you set out to kill the king, you had better succeed. They did not, and he is now stronger. Huge mistake.
Congratulations to the people of Wisconsin, who are now well on the path to privatizing all state government.
– Good workers leave the government since state workers will get treated like shit and have no future or power to change things.
– Crappy people will replace them.
– Productivity and responsiveness goes down.
– ALEC will float a campaign, backed by the Kochs demanding the state privatize the government because obviously, only private interests will be able to both save the state money and deliver top-quality performance (bullshit!)
Perfect example and warning of what our country will look like if we continue to allow the Koch brothers and ALEC to take over. This is the kind of people they are buying to put into office, what miserable evil people, I think Satan has arrived in the form of the Koch brothers and their Tea Party, Corporate Religion and every politician that claims to be a Christian.
Walkerstanian fascism lives another day.
Lotta conservatives think and hope he’ll be somewhere on the GOP 2016 Pres./VP ticket. I think he will be too.
Well Walker just got a leg up on the GOTP nomination.
I guess “living wage” just means enough money to eat rice and live in a cardboard box.
On the other hand, if you like that lifestyle, then please continue to not vote.
Evil flourishes when good people do nothing.
No shit. I had not read that. That bastard. He must have all the lawyers in his pocket. The recall may have been a mistake but were the charges against him also??
Good thing this law has helped Walker revive Wisconsin’s economy and create the 250,000 new jobs he promised… Oh, wait.
Nevermind.
Because money is speech, but human rights to collectively bargain are horrible.
Yeah, the John Doe probe was closed some months ago. The recall election was a huge boon to him. Progressives and democrats were idiots to try this. They should have allowed him to do his actions, and built resentment in the state. Instead, the recall election sort of acted as a “relief value”, taking off some pressure. The recall was effectively a public evaluation of the union actions. Guess what, folks? The public is NOT that outraged at the anti-union actions.
No, we aren’t. We used to be, but strange things happen when hateful rhetoric trumps verifiable facts and data. Hate is easy, facts and data require critical thinking skills.
Now, of course, rural Wisconsinites throughout the state are complaining about their underfunded schools and their lack of local control, after having elected people who ran on a platform of reduced school funding and elimination of local control. Somehow, that is also the teachers’ fault.
collective bargaining remains a creation of legislative grace and not constitutional obligation
I understand that, but how does this pass “equal protection” scrutiny when some classes of public employees (fire and police employees) were exempted from the Act 10 that stripped down the collective bargaining rights of others.
I suppose that the courts view your choice of occupation and employer as just that, a choice, and so equal protection applies only within departments and not across departments.
Well he has certainly proven himself inept, immoral, unethical, corrupt, petty, hateful, vindictive, and an enemy of democracy. None of it is illegal however, so he will surely get the votes of everyone who thinks those are positive character traits. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those people in Wisconsin, and throughout the US.
Well my take on this and other issues today is: Why even spend the time and money to file a case when the ultimate courts are politically biased against your position. Example being the 2 dissenters were liberal judges. These judges today all the way up to the supreme court seem to rule based on their political ideology. Then they try to find a justification legally. I think it’s down right SHAMEFUL. The law is the law. Should not matter rather you are left or right. It’s a minor miracle Obamacare survived the Supreme court. What irks me is the Wisconsin Supreme court did not have to hear this case. It’s all about money. I guarantee you these judges knew where their bun was buttered.
Proving once again what the Federalist Society clearly understands: The law is what the people we get appointed to the bench say it is!
Only one potential drawback to this, and if you don’t see what it is, Google Brownback and Kansas.
Like the Taliban, you can take control, but be careful against over reaching because the blowback can be a bitch…
Walker has gotten much of what he wanted, but it sure hasn’t done much to stimulate the economy of Wisconsin and especially not job growth.
Meanwhile, ISIS is busy blowing up every Muslin shrine in Mosul and the locals are becoming increasingly p…sed. Karma can be a real pain ultimately.
Yes, but the damage and looting these cons do before the rubes on Main Street finally wake up, is incredible.
And the Democrats ALWAYS have to clean up their shit…after which time they move back in and claim the Democrats are corrupt, anti-American, and anti-God so they can get elected again and fuck shit up again.
