Discussion: Winship: Why Trump's Campaign Team Makes Me As Nervous As He Does

This group of people being concentrated in any campaign for public office should serve as a Tsunami warning to any rational person.

Sadly it will not dissuade a single tRumpeteer from voting against the eventual Democratic nominee.

I’m pretty sure this guy is an unpaid member of his staff also…

There should be–at a maximum–about 10%-20% of the population in favour of Donald Trump. We all know why this is not so.

I submit that there are ways, within the parameters of American culture, to deal with the challenge of outvoting Trump in the General Election. From animating youth to energizing single white women to reaching out to Republican white women to blue collar workers.

And more

Each of these challenges poses specific and unique strategies. For example, concrete ways in which infrastucture refurbishment could revitalize workers (like white workers) beg for strategies. What I find ASTOUNDING is the fact that, during WWII, with no personal computers, social media, television and other gadgets, the United States confronted and dealt with diverse and complex problems much more difficult than dealing with Donald Trump…We can do better…and, for ME, the first thing is to more intelligently deal with the MSM.

The MSM is not on the side of the people right now. They are making too much money. Fine. Dealing with the MSM requires more than handwringing. We’ve only got a few months. Any suggestions are welcome. In fact, MY first suggestion is to ask Josh “what to do”.

How is it that Manafort is able to be interviewed by (supoposedly) respected members of the beltway stenographer corps without these being the primary topic of the interview?
I assume he must have some kind of tacit agreement that these subjects will not be brought up. At least I hope so, although I really can’t determine which would be more contemptible: that such a ‘tacit agreement’ exists or that there’s no need for it at all.

I thought my contempt for American-style “journalism” could not be greater.

I was wrong (but sadly, not surprised). The few exceptions, such as Mr. Winship, never seem to be the “A list” journalists, sadly.

And don’t overlook the parenthetical mention of Tad Devine. Bernie, you are known by the company you keep.

Anyone who employs these sleazy operators is unfit to hold the office of President of the United States - I don’t care what party they claim to represent.

Does Hillary have people of this ilk on her staff as well? Inquiring minds want to know.

So, now I think of Trump’s campaign being run by Uncle Duke of Doonesbury.

Right now, you have hit on one of the agents of American repression. It is important to understand that the American mind is extremely independent and freedom loving. Rather than opting for Gulag imprisonment as mind control, the MSM concocts ways (wedge issues, “race”, faux outrage, fear and uncertainty, info-tainment, “news” as a for-profit business, etc.) for people to self enslave.

Self enslavement is much more permanent and effective than externally enforced enslavement.

Are these the guys to help Rump convert the Republican Party into the party of workers? I swear I just heard that claim yesterday.

If Trump were to win the Presidency, it seems like we would be facing a Teapot Dome Scandal on steroids in no time with this bunch of bandits at the helm. Trump’s intelligence and reliance on crooks seems to be on par with Harding and his buddies he brought with him to the Oval Office.

Wow. These creeps have a good chance of rehabilitating the reputations of Cheney and Rumsfeld before it’s all said and done.

Does Elizabeth Warren know all of these facts? Seems to me that she has an excellent podium for delivering the message on Trump’s corrupt staff.

Without MSM on our side, the hill is steep. They talk about emails and Hillary speeches instead of explaining the deals in this article. Are they too difficult for the media to understand?

TPM did not report on the over reported over hyped emails and we are commenting on this Winship article. So are we preaching to the choir? Even after Romney’s campaign most people cannot explain or even understand what an equity capital company does-totally destructive to jobs and the economy.

So what do we do? Obama with his high ratings does clearly talk to the media when asked. E.g. Answers to questions on the emails. He is always criticized for not communicationg effectively, particularly on complex topics. E.g. Trade agreements. Media never once asked Bernie what he meant by his never explainied stand on trade aggresemnts. Yet the issue worked to his advantage. The same could happen for Trump, with his shady business goons running the show.

We always say it is the job of the opposing candidate to bring the issue up for airing. Hillary, the falsely maligned candidate is expected to do it with the media on her back.

Priceless.

You touched on part of the problem. Too many aspire to a life of being popular and the center of attention, being constantly entertained, and not having to think too hard.

This, sadly, lends credence to that nagging feeling I’ve had that Trump’s end game is to put is “brand” on the Presidency, “The Trump Administration®”, and charge “licensing fees” to anyone willing to pay.
