ETA: @centralasiaexpat, after Chaffetz’s announcement that not only will he not run again, but he might leave early? Nobody cares about this guy. He is bailing on his elected responsibility and could end up further embarrassing himself with a perp walk out of the HR wing of the Capital. The guy is a pariah.
Well truthfully their promises are only to get votes. They never truly intend to pass them because 1) they know they would never really work and 2)then they’d have no reason for people to vote for them.
When you think you are king you do not need to work with congress… just tell them what to do and they will please the dear leader by just doing it!

I don’t think a perp walk is in the cards for Jason Chaffetz. The simple truth of the matter is that Jason has no stomach to go after or investigate Trump or any of his own party. If the Clintons were in the White House, Jason would do his job with glee. Wild horses couldn’t drag him away. When everyone knows you’re purposely not doing your job and your constituents already let you know how they feel about your neglect of duty, It’s a case of damned if you do, and damned if you don’t. He wants to preserve what’s left of his reputation and punt for a few years. Besides, if the intelligence community comes up with some treasonous shit on this administration, Jason wants to be far away.

Good link. As noted elsewhere, if it isn’t directly Chaffetz own doings, it means somebody higher in the food chain is going down, an apex predator. Certainly, he’s not fleeing to a lucrative job in the private like his old Nu Skin gig.
