Discussion: Wind-Driven Wildfires Destroy At Least 2 Northern California Wineries

Good thing they are helping each other, because California will get bupkus out of this administration.

PP was only indifferent to Puerto Rico, and look how that went. He’s actively hostile here.

Getting rid of the competition for his Virginian winery…

Good business practice on PP’s part…

Edit: Chateau Plonk du Trump…

I’m mourning not just wines, but some of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen. I’ll put Sonoma and Mendicino up against almost anywhere. We lived through the Oakland firestorm though, so I know how resilient our planet and people can be. Now here in Indiana, you take your eye off the yard and it goes full-tilt back to forest.

I discovered Chateau Montelena on our honeymoon in wine and craft beer country back in 1987. I hope they continue to survive this. And generic, reality-based prayers for Navarro, my solace for leaving the Bay.

Do enough republicans drink california wines to start worrying about drought and climate?

(And I bet a bunch of vineyards with smoke damage will put out special pressings at double the price)

Frey Vineyards here in Redwood Valley, pioneers of biodynamic winemaking, was also likely destroyed in the Redwood Complex fire. We are just south of the evac zone and currently safe but friends have lost homes, farms. Winds scheduled to pick back up tomorrow.

Yeah, there’s a whole more than just two wineries destroyed. I’m down in Sausalito and the air quality here is horrible. I can’t see the houses across the street for the smoke. I stepped outside yesterday and it looked like snow flurries, but today my deck is covered with black ashes. Glad you’re safe, but sorry to hear about your friends. I’m a wine lover, but right now I’m much more worried about people losing their homes, their businesses – and their lives!

One daughter lives in Berkeley, and she said the smoke was worse today. It breaks my heart to see this happen to another beautiful part of the country and the death and destruction that occurred so quickly with so little warning.

While Pruitt goes about gutting EPA regulations…

That’s what people do in a crisis situation, they pull together and help their neighbors and families and friends and communities.

Fascists like all the Trumps and Pruitt, things like Gingrich and that crowd, not so much.

This is the greatness of human beings. Republicans wouldn’t know anything about that. This has nothing to do with Trump.

Republicans. Conservatives. Get out of our way.

Hat’s off to Josh on his well-deserved vacation on the balmy Black Sea.

Not a word beyond a disaster declaration. No tweeters like he would if a senator pissed him off. He doesn’t drink so he assumes it’s no biggie.
