A cynical person might think that Republican talk of support for our 9/11 heroes was just for show, all politics, but that wouldn’t be right, would it?

Is this a rhetorical question?

“Will Senate Republicans Jerk Around 9/11 Survivors Again?”

Are their plans for creating permanent white Christian hegemony furthered by doing the right thing here? No. Are their plutocratic masters enriched by doing the right thing here? No.

There’s your answer: yes, they will jerk everyone around on this.

Ex-EPA boss Whitman offers first-ever apology for bad info on post-9/11 air quality: ‘People have died because I made a mistake’

The former head of the Environmental Protection Agency apologized for the first time for her declaration a week after 9/11 that the air in lower Manhattan was safe to breathe.
Christine Todd Whitman conceded Friday that it was a mistake to give the all-clear at Ground Zero and said she was sorry for the ongoing health crisis that still grips first responders.

Yup.

Good thing those responders were assured no protective equipment was needed as they sorted through the terrible ruins. Ha. Who made that call?
Whether fault can or cannot be figured out, one thing is clear: this was a national emergency to which many people responded with full unselfish commitment. They made us proud at a really hard time. Unfortunately, they were not sufficiently protected and many of them are dying or living very difficult lives. They and their families deserve our nation’s help.

I’m a hardcore progressive. I keep getting stuck at the notion fair is fair is fair.
If the Republicans refuse to do what’s right, the comparison with their negligent and dismissive attitude towards asylum seekers becomes even more unmistakable. It will serve without reasonable objection as one hallmark of the Greedily Opportunistic Parasites. No play, no pay; aka, what’s in it for me?

And if the repubs listen to Coulter they’ll fuck over the widows who called themselves the Jersey Girls

These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands’ death so much.

Politicians happily give lip service to victims and 1st responders to any tragedy especially if it gets them votes. But doing something for victims is a different ball game entirely. Thought n prayers are easy. Doing their job in Congress is akin to pulling teeth, having them grow back and pulling them again just for the heck of it.

Maybe they can start by clawing back the $150,000 Trump got after 9/11 and all of the speakers fees “America’s Mayor” has collected on the back of survivors. Just a start.

When you say heroes the Republicans only see their hero ,Trump.
He has suffered long and hard to get to this point so how dare we ask for help for survivors.
Fuck every POS Repub who votes against the aid.

Legislation stating USG was insurer of last resort for any terrorist attack would the right and smart thing to do.

Which is why Republicans would object to it.

Of course, the hypocrisy of this manifests when these same Republicans begin their “thoughts and prayers” with their pandering to “First Responders.”

Of course they will, given the chance. This is like the GEICO ads: If you’re a Republican, it’s what you do.

Hey Rudy!

As Mr. 9-11, will you be taking the lead to push this legislation through the Republican Senate and to convince trump to sign? Or did your interest in 9-11 end at the same time your last presidential campaign did?

You know how we could fix this? UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE - then no one would have to jump through these hoops.

9-11 a national tragedy where first responders are now having to beg for money. Who would have known how toxic a situation it was having nothing in recent memory to compare it to? And, the party, originally of family values and the flag can’t see it’s way to do the right thing? So disgusting, if they have health care problems, they’re set for life.

Sickening. There’s simply nothing too low, too contemptible for these people. It’s entirely fitting that they’re led by a soulless, self-hating monster who mocks prisoners of war, and handicapped people, and gold star parents. It’s just absolutely sickening.
