Discussion: Will Congress Block Decriminalizing Marijuana In DC?

If not this, it will be some other trivial thing.

The only reason this tactic is effective is because it works. The American people have allowed it to work. If it doesn’t affect me and mine then just give them what they want - I need that check.

They will use it mercilessly for the next several years, at least. Attitudes like this guarantee it.

When the hell is this country going to grow up re: marijuana? It is not even close to comparable with true narcotics (e.g., heroin) yet due to William Randolph Hearst’s successful efforts to criminalize its use, we are stuck with outdated, ridiculous laws. As a thinking adult, it’s really nobody else’s business what I choose to put into my body; further, many studies have shown potential pharmaceutical benefits from the drug. Let’s get rid of laws premised on bigotry (“only dirty Mexicans and Negroes smoke pot!”) and start working with some rationality and decency. I expect very little of that from the incoming Congress.

I’m too Liberal to ever vote for a Republican these days, though I did vote for a few local R’s 30 some years ago. I vote a straight Democratic ticket now even though most of them are too far right for my tastes.

The Republicans come up with yet another idiotic threat and otherwise sensible people fall for it yet again.
Unbefrickinglievable.
