Republican-controlled Legislature
Time to fix that
Dems need to make this one of their campaign platforms
It motivates Dems and younger voters to the polls
In geriatric Florida we had a 70% + Positive on the Medical Pot Referendum

Under the proposal, a physician or a practitioner under the direction of a physician could recommend the use of medical marijuana to alleviate symptoms related to medical conditions such as cancer, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, severe nausea and seizures.

I have early glaucoma, and had been anticipating the promise of marijuana to help alleviate pressures in my eyes, but i’ve recently learned that it’s not all that helpful. While it does reduce pressures in the eyes, it also reduces blood flowing to the optic nerve, thus reducing it’s function causing long-term harm. I’m now much less enthusiastic about getting and using any medical marijuana for my glaucoma. Still, it shouldn’t be illegal, medicinal or otherwise.

Marijuana is about to get legalized in neighboring Illinois and it’s already happening in Michigan. Wisconsin has moved so far to the right of neighboring states that medical marijuana legalization is somehow controversial.

I was going to comment on this news but I am too busy eating Chili-Lime Doritos and eating a bowl of spumoni ice cream and staring at the awesome beauty of the veins in my hands.

Driving a nice wedge into the R-party of Wisconsin.

All the Governor is asking for is decriminalization and medical use.

This poll, released three weeks ago, shows approval for LEGALIZATION.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WKBT) -

A new Marquette Law School poll released Thursday shows a majority of people polled favor marijuana legalization in Wisconsin.

59% of those polled say that use of marijuana should be made legal, while 35% oppose legalization.

The question was also asked in a 2014 Marquette Law School poll. At that time, 46% favored legalization and 51% were opposed.

Then, there’s also this:

All advisory referendums on marijuana use in Tuesday’s general election — from approving medical purposes only to all-out legalization for adults — were supported by solid majorities in the 16 counties where they were placed on the ballot.

“As a cancer survivor, I know the side effects of a major illness can make everyday tasks a challenge. People shouldn’t be treated as criminals for accessing a desperately needed medication that can alleviate their suffering,” the governor said.
Exactly, I’m a believer
Non Hodgkin Lymphoma - 4 rounds RCHOP
16 rounds radiation
Bladder cancer 2 x’s on 12th round of BCG
The alternative is deadly. lol
But I can grow my own, legally in the flower garden.
I’m Happy. lol

So when marijuana is legalized, are prior convictions for posession erased? Are fines refunded?

Some day, this country will grow up. It’s happening piecemeal, but I feel the momentum is building. Lest we forget, Nixon was responsible for placing marijuana on Schedule 1, just like heroin and morphine. Ludicrous.

My wife has glaucoma and started medicating with cannabis. Her eye pressure was normal on her last visit to the doctor. He was quite surprised and she fessed-up that she’d been smoking weed. He told her it seems to be working better than the expensive eye drops he prescribed. We live in a state where medical weed is legal for a narrow range of afflictions, but too much of a pain in the ass to get a medical card.
I don’t put much stock in medical claims - or dire warnings about cannabis use. Those with axes to grind are always the most vocal on both sides of the issue. I’ve seen claims that it will cure everything under the sun, and claims that it will do tremendous harm. I know both to be false.

Keeping recreational marijuana illegal while allowing medical marijuana is a stupid half-measure.

This is pretty much always the right approach. Nothing cures everything, and everything is harmful at some point, even the things we need to survive. None of these oddball chemicals in plants are there because God wanted us to have medicine or fun, they’re there because they kill bugs. But sometimes they do other things along the way.

And never forget, he did it for racist reasons.

To some degree, but that’s the same status as many medications.

Morphine isn’t a schedule 1 drug; it has known medical uses. Same with cocaine FWIW (it’s used as an anesthetic for nose surgery, because it constricts the blood vessels).

I have been seized by the Republican Party. Does that count?

The previous governor Scott Walker sure let a lot of Koch into the state practically making it legal.
