Discussion: Why We Can't Afford To Turn Away Immigrants

Discussion for article #230525

It is true that white Americans are not having enough kids, and it is going to get much worse with this current generation. My 27 year old step daughter just told her father and I that she is not going to have any kids, not because she doesn’t love kids, but because she can not imagine bringing a child into this effed up world.

For one thing, when we have a generation of young adults with years of debt from getting an education, and then graduating into a work force, where politicians on one side think they should feel lucky making minimum wage, what sensible person would think they could even afford to have any children?

My parent’s generation were able to have a better life than their parents, and I grew up in that era of the American Dream, but watched that being destroyed for average Americans as I got older, and now our kid’s generation will be the first generation in decades that will actually be worse off then their parents were. If I were in my 20’s now, I would decide not to have any children either. As it is, I hate having to be honest with my one son, and my two step daughters, that the world we are leaving them is going to be nothing like what we grew up in.

Turn Away the Immigrants … and …
it is time to roll the credits on the glorious & great American Dream
