Discussion: Why Trump Has To Go Further Still To Denounce White Nationalism

ā€œIt all leaves a lot of room for white nationalism to fester.ā€

You just noticed that, did you, Lauren? And not a moment too soonā€¦oh, wait.

No, he needs to dissociate himself from white supremacy by excluding people like Bannon, Sessions, and Koboch from his administration. Unless that happens any denunciation of the scum by Trump is just noise.

The Alt-Reich is already turning on that person. From The Guardian:

Donald Trumpā€™s ā€˜alt-rightā€™ supporters express dismay at disavowal

Oh please, please, President Trump! Bring all of us Americans together!
Iā€™m going to barf.

Trump openly rode the support of white supremacists to electoral victory. The only denunciation that could mean anything would be a decision not to take office. Everything else is just smoke and mirrors.

I understand the desire to call these guys what they are instead of what they want to market themselves as. Iā€™m not sure ā€œWhite Nationalistā€ does it though. There is also a very strong strain of feminist-resentment in the movement. So even if Trump does distance himself from the racist aspects, there is a lot more going on.

rePukelican cowardess before this will melt faster than rePukelican denial of Tricky Dickā€™s guilt. And with Orange Postule Hitlerā€™s biz conflicts in the lead the wheels cominā€™ off this shit wagon so fast. We will be in deep Watergate territory by summer

Well thatā€™s the result of watching too much womenā€™s ā€˜professionalā€™ basketball.

And having to listen to feminazis.

Tell you one thing, Iā€™ll be watching for a slow transformation of this society. And every time this subject comes up and I hear a formerly normal, tolerant person say, ā€œLook, you know Iā€™m not a racist butā€¦ā€ Iā€™ll be one step closer to Canada or Belize or some place where I can settle down amid a society that hasnā€™t lost its mind. If the decent majority stay decent, Iā€™ll stick around. But Iā€™m not big on lost causes. Theyā€™re wasted effort by definition.

There comes a time when it stops being the fault of the liar and the responsibility for the, by this point predictable, bad consequences shifts to your dumb ass for still believing them.
Heā€™s a rasict, lying, sexist, homophobic piece of shit who is stocking his cabinet with everyone you would expect to see on the bridge of the Death Star. Heā€™s not going to change and even HE thinks your an idiot by now for not seeing that.

@nomoredevil I think ā€œWhite Nationalistā€ is an excellent sneer we can use around our conservative ā€œaverse racistā€ friends. Nothing like giving them some two ton albatrosses to carry around the next four years :stuck_out_tongue:

If I were not looking after my 88 year old mother and did not have my beloved dog that I could never leave behind, Iā€™d be gone. I have a friend who has been working on immigrating to New Zealand the last few years. Takes a long time to move to another country like that, but if and when he gets his citizenship, Iā€™d marry him in a heartbeat to get out of here. If he asked of course.

Trump wants and needs attention, we all know that, weā€™ve all discussed that. Bannon may or may not be, a racist, anti-Semite, or misogynist, but what he does want is to tear down our political parties, tear down out way of engaging in politics, and transform our government into- I donā€™t know what but itā€™ll be chaos. The alt-right, white nationalists or any other formalized congregation of hate will not be dismissed by these two because one needs them for their attention and the other is using them for his own ends.
Letā€™s not forget Priebus, heā€™s just the little kid waking up on Christmas morning and received every present he ever wanted. He is not a Republican check on the other two, heā€™s gloating and gleeful about the GOP control of all three branches or government, a majority of governorships, and stateā€™s legislatures. Beside Charles and David have him positioned to take control for their ideology.

My dadā€™s 92 and Iā€™m thinking of asking him to renew his passport. He could handle a trip to Canada Iā€™m sure. I donā€™t think things will devolve all that fast but Iā€™m not sure and itā€™s an easy precaution to take. Donā€™t Canadians like dogs? : )

Yes, you can take dogs to Canada easily enough, at least for now. My ex took the Labs to hunt in Canada often and we took them to Ahmic Lake in the Parry Sound area of Ontario a few times. Never took my little buddy I have now as he was not around then.
But yes, getting your dog across the border to Canada is quite easy. For now.

My mom is 88 going on 18 and has a passport that she has used lately, but sheā€™s not going to leave any grand kids or great grand kids behind and with her arthritis, that cold weather will not do. Could be the same for your dad, long cold winters are not easy for them.

Who wrote this headline? ā€œFurther still?ā€ So far, heā€™s gone about an inch.

I agree with your point. In some ways the discussion about whether or not Bannon is a racist, anti-Semite or misogynist is a distraction from many of the things Bannon has admitted to in his own words. I really think his speech in 2014 that was broadcast to a Vatican conference (link below) hasnā€™t gotten enough attention. In the speech, he indicates that he believes the Judeo-Christian capitalist west has been and continues to be engaged in some kind of holy war with Islam, secularists and the east. Heā€™s dangerous and his world view is disturbing.

Thatā€™s why Mitt Romney is being considered for Secretary of State. He knows a lot about taking a dog to Canada.
