Discussion: Why The BLM Shooting Suspect Believes He's A U.S. Attorney General

Well I’m glad the Feds are investigating it and not our Sheriff (I live in Nevada County). Just last yer, “Sheriff” Mack of “women first” fame, came to town to rile-up the local yahoos and Tea Party and our Sheriff Royal decided he’d do the dedication to Mack at the event. Local blog and lefties rose a stink and Sheriff Royal decided to just attend the event but not introduce him. Still, of like mind I think.

Clearly as Attorney General of the United States he should be allowed to have a gun. Right bulletheads?

I’m sorry, but why are you giving this nutjob any press?

He’s INSANE.

Please STOP.

it’s called “make-believe”. most of us learn to tell the difference between it and the real world long, long before adulthood.

Have you ever noticed that these guys who call themselves “statutory” or “sovereign” or “constitutional” never see themselves as the “second deputy assistant soverieign…” this or that? Nope, they gotta appoint themselves be the big kahuna right away.

Mack really was a Sheriff. He was elected Sheriff of Graham County, AZ. It’s really pretty country on the east side of the state. Some of the people are really clannish and odd.

Because he shot 2 law enforcement people and there’s a large chunk of the population who are thinking, “well, maybe he’s not that bad. I heard on Fox that the feds are heavy handed fascists.” Those people need to be shown that this guy is a nut, an ant-semite, and generally indefensible. Sunshine is the best disinfectant.

Wait, you are now advocating that the government keep an eye on the looney-rght?

Yes, in order to ascend to their world, according to Freud you must violate your “bar of self-conscious”.

Well, hang on. Now that I think about it, I’ve never seen Eric Holder’s original long-form birth certificate.

Yup. And this kind of magical thinking also propels a lot of the tax protesters. “If I just print these words on my 1040, the IRS will be struck powerless, and I won’t have to pay any income taxes.”

Emotionally, they’re all about ten years old, in the thrall of secret knowledge, magic, codewords, and clubs in which “no gurlz are allowed.”

I saw these sovereign citizens when I was interning for the district attorney up in Anchorage, AK and again when I was a prosecutor in California. They have a cache of motions they circulate and they all seem to prefer acting as their own attorneys. In my experience, the trial courts were very patient with them. The juries, not so much.

All those years ago, the sovereign citizens in Alaska were claiming that it was illegal for Congress to have gone off the gold standard back whenever Congress did that. Therefore, they couldn’t pay their traffic fine because money was invalid, or something. But it was Alaska, and the clerks office there took gold. So there was a happy ending.

I think it is great that you know about D-K. I have used this in the past and people never quite got it. Thanks. Makes me feel like a kindred soul is out there…

Wait a minute! I AM Napoleon Bonaparte.

Virtually everything a Republican says about science, economics, foreign policy, national security policy, or law these days is an example of the Dunning-Kruger Effect in action. I’m not just saying that to be snarky. The GOP is the party of Dunning-Kruger.

I don’t recognize him as a legal attorney general. So can I shoot him?

Brent Cole is just one of a growing number of nutcases who are now willing to kill in defense of their insane beliefs, and you can bet the professional right-wing conspiracy mongers who dish out the sort of bullshit that people like Cole thrive on don’t lose a minute’s sleep over doing so.

They’re the real terrorist masterminds who pose the biggest danger to this country…

Ok, but here is the logical gap that underlines the crazy…If you don’t recognize the Federal government as legitimate, then how can you recognize the opinions of their courts as legitimate?
