Discussion: Why Prosecuting Bill Cosby Won't Be As Difficult As It Once Was

Discussion for article #244202

Not all the challenges to the PA law have been teased out. Awaiting are challenges to the breadth of the testimony when it goes beyond issues the particular complainant has and instead imputes issues others have to the complainant. The PA Supreme Court, which has been at less than full staff in recent years due to some of its members going to jail or becoming embroiled in sending pornographic and racist and sexist emails (many of which, by the way, make fun of rape victims and glorify rapists) (oh yeah, the U.S. Supreme Court is about to hear a case where it affirmed a death penalty where its Chief Justice, who prosecuted the guy in the first place, did not recuse himself from the appellate case) has often interpreted the Pennsylvania Constitution’s protections of criminal defendants’ trial rights more assiduously than the federal courts, so we will see when the bench is at almost full strength (one of the emailers is still under suspension) with the addition of three Democratic members in two days.

I still dread that this could blow up into another O.J. circus.

Allowing the allegations of Cosby’s other accusers to be considered in the case already faces a high legal bar that was perhaps made even taller by a recent ruling in a Philadelphia clergy sex abuse case.

@tierney how so? that was about evidence that predated the involvement of that particular defendant. i don’t see what it has to do with the cosby case.

It might

but Cosby is however 78…so it might not.

You don’t know what you are talking about.
