Discussion: Why Did NBC Pull Ayman Mohyeldin From Gaza?

I’d say your comment confirmed what just2stressed wrote. “No one is supposed to criticize Israel.” Your response is to accuse them of anti-Semitism.

Nope.

His comment was not about Israel—he stated that Jews controlled all US media.

Not only is that utterly false and seriously stupid, it is classic antisemitism.

Bullshit. Really? Two reporters who may have been somewhat critical of Israel no longer allowed to report on the invasion. I’d say that makes your comment just what you said. Bullshit.

I do hear what your saying and the distinction you are making. I missed that in the original comment. I apologize

Why did NBC send its Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent - that is, it’s very top guy in the field of covering armed conflicts - to take over the Gaza reporting?

I don’t think we need to get all Glenn Greenwald conspiratorial here. The obvious answer seems more than sufficient.

Conspiracy theorists will latch on to what seems like a pattern to convince people that “the Jews own the media” which has been a rallying cry for anti-Semetic Linbergtarians for decades.

Mohyeldin criticized Hamas in his tweets. Maybe you all should read the article before you start spouting your personal cherished narratives.

Israel needs to get over itself and recognize that occupation is a bigger danger to its existence than any potential threat from Gaza or the West Bank, for sure. But Hamas are the ones driving the current crisis, and are primarily at fault for the death and destruction.

I am not a conspiracy theorist. But I would be willing to bet that these particular reporters coverage is what got them pulled.

Did anyone watch Ayman Mohyeldin’s amazing reporting during the Egyptian uprising against Mubarek? He was working for Al Jazeera. He went places no one else would go.

I was thrilled that NBC hired such an experienced and thoroughly professional journalist.

Apparently the truth got in the way.

I guess we should all return to the news from the Middle East as approved by the IDF.

Very sad. Once again, Americans are some of the LEAST informed people on the planet when it comes to the Middle East.

From the actual content of the story, it sounds as if it may have been unflattering coverage of the terrorist organization.

If a tree falls in the forest and there’s no one there to report it, does it make a sound?

All these incidents in the media do is reinforce the perception that Jews control the media, and use it to propagandize for Israel.

Is there any evidence of that…have any reporters been pulled for not being sufficiently pro Israel? It seems they have.

Also, why do we care so much about Israel or more about them than any of the other nations in the Middle East.

I think I know the obvious answers in my own head but have always wondered if I’m missing something but have been afraid to ask for some reason.

Is it anti-Semitism to wonder if it is the American Jews that prolong our assistance and military threat of force to Israel and that is the only reason why? That isn’t anti-Semitism it is just curiosity.
Is it Biblical and all about the Holy Land and the rapture? If it is, how does giving billions of dollars help us in the long run considering the rapture?
Are we just trying to maintain a base of operations in the Middle East and just happened to join with one of the mightiest other militaries in the world?

Finally, what do we gain, hope to gain or have we ever gained that makes it all make sense?

Off topic but I can’t understand all else if I don’t really understand the whys and how comes.

Talking about “the Jews” doing this or that as if they are a monolithic group is a classic trope of anti-Semitism. It’s especially ironic given that the owner of this website is Jewish and is making a stink about it.

Did the Israeli government buy you your Prime subscription so you could defend her here?

NBC = Journalism Fail.

Kick some dirt over it; the Fifth Estate is dead.

His reporting must not have fit the narrative NBC was going for so they canceled his show. I hope the readers here know better than to turn to network or cable news for honest reporting. Even if they have solid reporters, the network’s instinct is to protect their bottom lines. PBS all the way.

Factually, it would be correct to say that the owners of the media have a greater allegiance to Israel than to the US, or their responsibility to report fairly. Fixed?
