Yeah lets vote for the corrupt guy to resign so his replacement can get appointed by choirboy CHRIS MFING CHRISTIE!!!
Iâm talking about the 2018 election to fill the seat if Senator McCain doesnât last that long.
Pretty sure theyâd trade him for the nineteen votes needed to impeach Trump, though.
Thatâs not really the point. The article is talking about how Democrats are worried about how it would look if Menendez stayed in office. Iâm pointing out why they shouldnât be the least bit concerned.
For once you have a point. Theyâd really have to suck it up and do it to preserve the moral high ground for impeachment, even knowing there is insufficient good faith on the Republican side to impeach Trump no matter what the evidence.
Yeah right, Hillary couldnât beat Donald Trump in Arizona. A Democrat is not going to beat a mainstream Republican, unless you can convince Janet Napolitano to come out of retirement, then I would say the odds of a pick-up would substantially increase.
Evidence of what?
Never going to happen unless Mueller comes back with clear evidence that Trump conspired with Putin to hack into the DNC server and spread those truthful emails about Democrats and Hillary or has evidence of more than a couple of words about the Flynn investigation to Comey, that he engaged in a systematic effort to obstruct justice of a non-crime.
I have no idea if Menendez is guilty but one thing I know is there are plenty of sitting GOP Senators and Representatives that should be indicted on far worse shit Iâm sure. Also, fucking Tom Price at HHS is undoubtably one of those that should have been brought up on charges of insider trading or manipulating legislation in which he personally profited from as a form of quid pro quo, rather than be appointed to the head an agency. Hell, tRumpâs entire bunch of CEOs and plutocrats that have been appointed to head agencies are a bunch of indictable assholes, ready to be thrown in jail for one malfeasance or another. Thatâs not to say Menendez is not guilty of wrongdoing or off the hook, but I seem to recall that entire subplot of being with a hooker was manufactured bullshit by a vigorous oppositionâŚso his wrongdoing, even if true, could be seen as a political hit job. And then, like the article states, if Bob McDonald could be let off the hook by SCOTUS for what was once considered bribery chargesâŚwhatâs good for the gooseâŚand all that, I say. Fuck that IOKIYAR shit. Iâve had my fill of watching that happen year after year with various GOPers. To have Crispy Creme appoint Menendezâs replacement would be such hypocrisy all by itself. Crispy is one fucking walking talking example of corruption, so far evading his role in Bridgegate, which undoubtably happened on his orders, is really a bridge too far.
Seems to me that that is rightâhe should stay pending appeal if convicted.
Since this case was initiated under the Obama DOJ, I would say they probably have the goods on the Senator.
He will appeal any conviction and drag it out until the new gov is sworn in. We will Merrick Garland their asses on this one.
The lines between legalized bribery, sucking up to a politician and illegal bribery are easy to cross. From my memory of the story he denies guilt and the governmentâs case isnât necessarily the strongest, but a case can be made.
Suddenly the Democrats are feeling the pain of their incomptence ⌠Menendez could not come at a worse time. The ticking time bomb called Debbie Wasserman Schultz should have been removed in 2016⌠Allowing Pelosi to speak in public has bad consequences⌠Tom Perez has proven to be q failure⌠Running a political campaign on HATE is a recipe for failureâŚ
All things considered, Menendez is looking a lot better than the rest of the partyâŚ
Did you toss his body in the East River to swim with da fishes?
Yes, Iâve always wanted to say that.
Calling Duffyâs Dad to do some pest control!
Why would this be a nightmare? Even if found guilty, Menendez has the right to appeal all the way to the Supreme Court. That could take a long time, and I really want to see the GOP scream about âCORRUPTION!â while heâs doing it. Every Dem in office would be pointing to the sleazy dealings of Trump and just about every member of his administration, and I donât see the GOP worrying about removing any of them from their positions, pointing out the fact the GOP doesnât scream about them being brought up on charges of bribery and corruption by the Justice Department (like Ben Carsonâs very recent violation of the Hatch Act. When is he going to be investigated? Ben Carson may be an idiot, but stupidity is not an excuse for a criminal act.). And I know that David Vitter was never under federal indictment for his hooker dealings, but the way the GOP stood by the diaper-wearing hypocrite was pretty embarrassing and disgusting.
If Menendez should be forced to resign, then the majority of the Trump team should be in a Turkish prison.
Bill OâReilly, is that you?
Hey! Thatâs an insult to Illinois! No one is more corrupt than us!
I personally would like to see every corrupt pol, D and R alike, playing hide the soap in stir for a very lengthy stretch. It shouldnât be hard to internalize one simple rule: when youâre elected to public office, you donât take anything from anyone. You can accept a tie from your wife and kids on fatherâs day and your birthday. But that is it. That is it. That is it.
