Warren’s position is penny wise, pound foolish. Future Democratic presidents will loathe the precedent it gives Republicans to obstruct the functioning of government agencies.

destroying environmental regulations that benefit American citizens?

appointing thieves and liars to key government positions?

personally, I’d like something out of the ordinary like integrity and competence

For years the hypocrite GOP screamed rule of law rule of law. OK asshats. Follow the law. The law specifically designates the deputy director to be the director of the CFPB. End of story. Tell Hair Fuhrer to pound sand.

Warren’s position is to follow the law that established the agency.

Trump cannot legally override the law.

Dood-Frank, which established the CFPB, seems pretty clear on this point. Dump will be forced to back down. And hopefully Dems in the Senate can prevent the appointment of a permanent director bent on destroying the agency.

I do wonder how Dump’s working class supporters think that destroying consumer protections is going to Make America Great Again.

Why not Jared? He’s already brought peace to the Middle East and modernized the government.

Dodd-Frank is clear on how an acting successor is appointed in the event of the retirement of the current director. That’s how the CFPB was established from the get go. I don’t think that’s true of all gov’t agencies.

Please DO pay attention to that man behind the curtain!

While prez Full Diaper distracts with idiotic tweets this rapacious moron may take the CFPB apart at the seams, the FCC is trying to gut net neutrality, Tillerson is gutting State to the tune of cutting 2,000+ positions, Zinke wants to sell off our national parks to the extraction industry, Justice (oxymoron?) is filling a 2-year backlog of Federal judgeships with rabidly partisan but minimally qualified judges thanks to McConnell’s holding up every one of President Obama’s judicial nominations, even tho use of petroleum and coal is declining ANWR will be open for business and the world’s greatest salmon fishery may be blasted by Canadians, well-known for their own environmental protections.

Run for office- the 2018 elections are less than a year away! And if Trump and Louie Gohmert can get elected what’s to stop a qualified candidate?

Become a Precinct Committee Officer, sometimes it’s a Ward officer. You’ll meet with neighborhood Dems and get out the vote. Find good citizens willing to run for office.

Register people to vote. If you need to help people overcome the GOP-led Voter run-around help them do that.

Run for School Board. Make sure Civics is being properly taught. Think a majority of America knows how government works? Just 26% of eligible voters in America voted for Trump and half of eligible voters stayed home last November. Today’s 12-year olds will be voting for President in 8 years.

Run for Mayor, City Council, County Commissioner, Borough Assembly.

Get appointed to your Planning Commission. Know everything going on in your community.

Run for State Legislature or Congress. The next census is in 2020, just over 2 years from now, when we redraw Congressional Districts.

And get rid of GERRYMANDERING! Safe GOP seats gave us such intellectual giants as Louie Gohmert and Steve King. In most cases it’s the state Legislature that draws Congressional boundaries. Make it FAIR, OPEN and HONEST! We can do this!

Overturn Citizens United. Money is NOT speech and Corporations are NOT people- at least not until Texas executes one, and overturn any voter ID laws that are clearly an attempt to disenfranchise the poor and people of color.

Why should the president allow a little thing called the law interfere with what he wants to do? The Constitution so far has been no impediment to him…

Any suggestions on how they can do that? The GOP Senate has obediently confirmed every DT nomination of a permanent director bent on destroying the agency, they have all done as expected, and nothing has changed.

They have been told at least since St. Reagan that government is evil and the free market solves all ills. They have also been told since St. Reagan that trickle down is economic magic so the GOP tax plan will make them rich, improve the economy, and bring back coal and manufacturing jobs so everything in their world be will right and good.

This one will end up in court.
Bank on it.

Agree completely unless someone in the administration convinces him otherwise. Not even the unified executive proponents on the Supreme Court would go so far as to allow the president to “interpret” a law that is unambiguous.

Anything that delays the corruption or destruction of another govt agency seems like a good thing these days but I like this for an additional reason: If Cordray and Warren’s interpretation of the law holds up then that not only arranges a Senate fight around the Tangerine Goblin’s nominee but does so as the election cycle is in full swing which means consumer protection becomes a platform issue, possibly a significant one.

SCOTUS will hear this January on who gets to vote, a choice between the few the Rs want or the many Americans who are entitled.

Indications are they know nothing of this. He’s anti immigrant, anti persons of color, pro wall, and he’s telling them every day of his many accomplishments.

There’s a huge number of positions he hasn’t even nominated anyone for though. To a large degree that hamstrings them, because acting directors don’t have full authority, but in this case an acting director who believes in the mission is better than a confirmed one working to actively undermine it.
