Discussion: White S.C. Officer Seen On Video Throwing Black Student To Be Relieved Of Duty

Discussion for article #242244

Unfortunately, it will be the school system and/or the police department that will be paying the millions in damages in the inevitable lawsuit, instead of this guy.

Too bad. They need to be sued.

¨Fields had been put on administrative leave pending a full investigation by local and federal authorities.¨

How much more evidence you need? There is no possible excuse for that kind of abusive policing.

Can you imagine what the response would be if that was a 16 year old white female? This is insane. What’s also sad is how the other students had no choice but to ignore it or watch silently. If they had tried to help her, they too would have been slammed down. What the hell is wrong with cops like this? Why do they have the mentality that everyone is their enemy? No wonder the world thinks the US has gone off the rails.

Which is all the more reason to fire him toot sweet. If I were the parents of that kid, I´d be yet more enraged to hear that crap about needing ¨a full investigation¨ before firing him.

Administrative leave - of course his salary and pension etc… will continue until this blows over the investigation is complete.

“Relieved of duty!?” Why not charged with assault? That needs to be done to make our schools safe for our children.

They have insurance that covers it. It won’t come out of their pocket.

“The high school student involved in the confrontation was arrested and charged with disturbing school. Another female student was also charged. Neither have been identified.”

Huh. Then what is this?

Relieved of duty. Does that mean fired?

The second student identified herself as Niya Kenny and was on Don Lemon’s show last night. She said she told her fellow students to get their phones out when the officer came in. Niya also said the student who was slammed in the chair is a very quiet person who keeps to herself and the other students don’t know her well. Also, Niya is still suspended from school. There is video at CNN’s website

If they had tried to intervene, this cop would have undoubtedly pulled his gun and started blowing students away…fear for his life from an angry mob.

Isn’t he also the football coach? What about that position?

Of course the student was arrested. Can you imagine the Cop trying to explain this mess without an arrest? The arrest is made to legitimize the excessive use of force. If she wasn’t doing something that merited arrest ( and in reality she was not ) why beat her up?

But try this. Walk into a classroom and attack a kid like that. Do you think all you’ll get is “relieved of duty”? They’d jail your ass for years for doing that.

The one woman who did try to say something is the other one who is in trouble,

There is a law on the books in SC since the 70s that calls for arrest and jail time for any student who disrupts a class. Can you imagine that? Even the Sheriff said he doesn’t like the law but he has to follow it. How insane is that?

I don’t watch CNN but she was also on Chris Hayes show last night. This is so ridiculous it is bordering on insane.
