The altercation heightened concern about the potential for violence at the July convention, where other groups including Bikers for Trump, Truckers for Trump and the Cleveland Tea Party have promised to hold pro-Trump events.
In related news, Convention organizers are understandably terrified of the small, but extremely vicious contingent of “Septic Tank Pumpers for Trump” who have threatened that they will “bring it” to the Convention.
My best advice to all those planning to travel to Cleveland to protest Trump and his people: Don’t. Don’t go. Instead, invest your energies in organizing like-minded people in your area, writing to your congressperson and senators. Write to your local newspapers, etc. Volunteer at the local Democratic Party Headquarters or go to a place like Kansas and volunteer at their Democratic Party’s Headquarters and the good folks in those nooks and crannies of the nation who desperately need our support. Or volunteer for your Green Party or whatever group suits your fancy – but why give those dead-enders at the GOP your valuable time protesting them, putting yourself in physical danger? They aren’t worth your time or energy. I say this in all sincerity. What if someone threw a hate party and nobody showed? Ignore their asses. Yes, pay close attention to them and what they say … but leave them to themselves, and go vote.

I think you’re right about that. It doesn’t help the good folks to have a confrontation. There are plenty of ways to show you disagree in a positive, constructive way. A confrontation just lets the more turbulent psyches in either group get worked up to the point they’re carried away. It doesn’t help and can do a lot of harm. It might feel necessary and satisfying emotionally but the trick is to play it smart and win the long game.
George Will created Trump and the modern GOP and he doesn’t have the spine or the courage to stay with the party and try to fix his own mess.

I’ve often had the same feeling about things like KKK parades, and similar displays by small but exceptionally odious groups. What if they put on a show, and absolutely no one came to watch? No protesters, no observers at all. Ten minutes of marching down the streets of some hapless small town, and it would all be over. No media coverage. Nothing.
